    Re: heartburn and nausea

Hi I experienced the same symptoms on my second & third day, it went away eventually but I found it pretty hard to deal with. I imagine its just your body getting used to the foods you are eating.

      Re: heartburn and nausea

I think I was about a week in to induction before I got a bad case of heartburn which was tagged along with a bout of hiccups. It hasn't happened since but I'm pretty sure it had to do with the lunch I ate that day (Applebee’s bacon-cheeseburger and house salad). Maybe there was sugar in the blue cheese dressing. Or possibly since we told our server we were doing Atkins and had a bunch of requests for him, he sabotaged our food

Maalox seems to be sugar free (Saccharin Sodium, Sorbitol) which I believe are allowed.

        Re: heartburn and nausea

I wish I could help you there.. but all I can do is just let you know I had it too. Mine was really bad for the first four days, plus periodically for the first two weeks (I lost 25 lbs first 2 wks.). I do notice that it comes back again here and there when I have a rapid sudden weight loss. I just see it kind of as my body telling me I'm losing way too fast so I eat some acceptable carbs and it seems to help. I sincerely hope you feel better. I know it's no fun. Good luck! Ps. make sure to let us know if you find something that works. You could then possibly be helping others. GOD Bless!

            Re: heartburn and nausea

Logically the reason we get heartburn, particularly on Induction, is that high protein and high fiber foods (hmmm meat and veggies?) require more action/acid on your body's part to break down. Not a problem normally because we eat them mixed with carbs which do a lot of absorbtion. Meats and veggies absorb little as they work their way down.

I am having a wicked time with heartburn this weekend, plus a little nausea and hiccuping. All signs of an irritated tum.

            Soooooooo....
With that in mind, I tried to think of spongy, crispy atkins foods that might absorb a little. So far I have hit upon muffin-in-a-minute, which I had for breakfast, and I just had a bizarre combination, that tasted wonderful; pork rinds with sugar free maple syrup (think McDonald's McGriddle - it's comparable). These are not induction friendly foods, beware! But in desperation, they seem to be helping a bit. Washed those down with water and a zantac, and I feel better than I have for two days. The zantac alone, yesterday, did not do as well.
