I have no appetite for most of the day. One meal a day is enough for me and I've got to be honest, that's mostly all i've been having is one meal. I know that is not the right way to do Atkins but I just have no appetite. I had been skipping breakfast and having just decaf but this morning I decided to try to eat something so I made 2 eggs had a slice of cheese and 3 thin strips of steak. I only had half the eggs, 1½ of the steak and I had to force myself to finish the cheese. Then all I had all day was water, water, water....
I just tried to eat dinner and I knew I wasn't hungry and I didn't even finish half of it. Anyone else have this problem? I have obviously NEVER had this problem before! LOL

I know you guys are going to get on me for not eating my veggies and such. But what am I supposed to do? :sadblinky I'm really worried about stalling because of this. So far I'm doing good and the weight is coming off. This no appetite really just started about 3 days ago... also, i've noticed for the past 2 days I have less energy than I was feeling in the beginning of Atkins... Is this the cause?

btw, for anyone wanting a little TMI, TOM is here. :anger Could it be affecting me?

One of the side effects of ketosis/lipolysis is lack of appetite. So congrats on being in ketosis!

It's really important now to eat. You might have to have several "snacks" throughout the day rather than 3 large meals. Be sure to eat a combination of fat/protein/carb at these mini meals.

Be sure to measure your veggies using a standard cooking measuring cup. I get the feeling folks estimate (overestimate) the amount of veggies and get intimidated by it. 1 cup of veg, especially 1 cup of "loosely packed" veggies isn't a huge amount.

And of course, don't forget to drink your water.

      Hi HarleySprings, :wave

It sure is something isn't we go from not being able to stop eating to not being able to start.

Chances are this a reaction to all the sudden changes your body is experiencing. Most of these changes are a reaction to withdrawal from all the substances like bad carbs, caffeine and the worst of all really refined sugar which Dr Atkins always believed was one of the worst most deadly drugs on the planet.

Providing there's nothing physically wrong with you ie: a flu or cold, the symptoms of what folks refer to as the "induction flu" has many symptoms and for you - lose of appetite to this degree may be one of them.

However, it's not permanent but you do have to eat, I'm sure others will have many suggestions for you but at this point I would recommend to you that instead of eating three meals a day and feeling the pressure to do so, Try eating 4-5 small meals throughout the day and night.

As an example have one egg and one strip of bacon or steak in the morning, a bit later maybe another egg with some cheese and a small amount of veggies tossed in.

Lunch, keep it very small - remember don't let your carb count fall below 20 grams so use your counter and spread out your meals, if you want try six meals a day that's worked well for many folks experiencing what you're going through. The 64 ounces of water are very important and may be making you feel bloated, hence you don't want to eat so spread your water intake out over longer periods throughout the day.

The lack of energy and overall yucky feeling happens to most of us during this time of initial Induction, but it fades as quickly as it arrives. Try the above suggestions and see if you feel any better.

Thanks for the replys Peter and not2late. I like the idea of being able to eat smaller meals throughout the day and I am happy to report that I just made myself a yummy snack under the broiler with cheese and the leftover chicken from my dinner... and I finished it all! lol

You're so right Peter, I could once eat ½ a chicken breast easily, now i'm having trouble eating 2 thin slices of chicken breast! What a change! I love it actually, I just worry about not eating enough of what I need.

Eating every 6 hours is important for your bloodsugars to remain stable and for you to not go into starvation mode. I also have a problem eating enough, but I've also gone with adding veg to each meach (which helps stimulate my appetite). So try some veggies!
