  • Hi! I am new with a question...

    Hey guys!

My name is Taylor and I am continuing my weight loss journey with atkins. I was a calorie counter and in 2 months lost 11 pounds and 17 inches. But I felt so deprived and depressed and felt like I couldn't do anywhere or do anything because the calories I was allowed.

I also noticed that 60% of my food was carbs and I was eating about 1.200 - 1.400 calories a day and my yearning to binge was still with me and on most days it almost sent me to tears.

I have been doing some research on atkins and made my first day on friday.
So far I have LOVED it. These last few days I have eaten all "legal" food with 12-20 carbs from veggies and leafy green...limited cheese...and really drinking my water...etc. I also feel more freedom with going out with friends and family. I can always get a steak and veg and most any place.

I also workout 4 times a week...weight training with a trainer twice a week and twice on my elliptical.

Here are some of my question I would love answered that I am sure you have answered a billion times.

Should I worry about portions on Induction? Let's just say I have enjoyed my burgers ,steak, eggs, bacon (no added sugar) and all the legal stuff. I have been full - not stuffed but my portions are on the larger size and my hunger is not smaller yet. Should I worry about calories on induction if I am not overly stuffing myself?

Thanks so much and I look forward to posting here!

(I don't really weight myself that often so this is not very accurate)

Well done you for getting into exercising so early on your Atkins journey

As long as you eat to your appetite you should be fine You might find your appetite decreases as ketosis kicks in too, just be aware of your hunger and adjust portions accordingly and I am sure you will soon be a loser!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

The one thing I love about Atkins is that you don't have to feel like you are starving. If I'm hungry, I eat something. It doesn't give you license to see how many steaks you can eat in one sitting, but to eat until I'm pleasantly full, not stuffed is a good feeling!

You will get to a point where food isn't the big deal it used to be. I used to be someone who ate breakfast wondering how long it would be until lunch, but now I can actually get busy and forget it's getting to be lunchtime!

      Welcome!

Indeed, before Atkins I used to eat breakfast and 2 hours later was starving just wishing that lunchtime would come soon. Now that Atkins has seriously changed the way I'm eating for the better, I sometimes eat breakfast and have to force myself to eat 6 hours later just because I'm not that hungry.
