HELP!!! Anyone still snacking/hungry?

  • HELP!!! Anyone still snacking/hungry?

    I am on day 4 and I am finding that I am still wanting to snack. I bought some pork rinds and pork skin crackling type thingys. Is that okay to eat. It says 0 carbs. I have a family of 6 and they are not quite sure I should be doing this so snacks around here are everywhere. They are constantly saying I could NEVER do what you are doing. I would never be able to give up this honey bun. We also have three birthdays coming up not to mention the holidays! I feel doomed to fail already! I just want to scream "Don't you love me?" "Don't you want me to be healty?" We are such a carb-a-holic family they are totally not down with what I am doing.
    I have had to just today remind them two or three times to PLEASE stop making this harder on me than it has to be.

    So back to the snacking. I am reading the book that says I should be seeing a reduction in my desire to snack. But so far I don't. I do, however, feel better and have plenty of energy.
    I am walking my 10,000+ steps a day and drinking about 72 ounces of water. So I know I am doing that part right.
    I think my biggest problem would be beverages. I LOVE my coffee. I always have decaf so that's not a problem but the creamer has 1carb per tsp and the splenda does too! So I have drastically cut back on that. I also only have 1 or 2 cups of the diet rite a day (which is a big drop).

    I have cut out all the aspartame. But I was wondering if any of you ever have it with no ill effects. I really like the sugar free jello but they don't make it with splenda ( which we are still suppose to limit the splenda to 2 a day! ) YIKES! I'm going nuts here!~

    I'd appreciate any encouragement or advice on any of this.

    the reduction in appetite will come, you started 3 days ago, yes? Give it another couple of days.

    But snack already! Just make it high fat snacks. Celery with cream cheese.. yum! Pork rinds are okay in moderation (salty, you know.) One favorite snack of mine, deviled eggs, or just boil an egg and halve it, and scoop a little mayo one each half.

    Your sweetner limit is 3 a day, but no that still is not a lot, and you are probably getting it in your Diet Rite. Decaf with heavy cream might help wean you off of sweetener.

    Good job on your water, walking, and resisting the evil honey buns! Your family is not being very supportive, but we are here for you.. just tell yourself you are bound to succeed, not doomed to fail! and that is half the battle right there!

      I am sure the family will come around once they see a change. I have lost a few (water weight) pounds so far. When I mentioned that today my teenager said "you have?". Disbelieving me. But I know since I wear baggy clothes it will be a while before anyone will be able to really see a difference.
      Is there a cream cheese with 0carbs? Mine has a couple per serving. I don't like celery but maybe I can find something to put the cream cheese on.
      We just finised dinner and I am hoping it stays with me til bedtime. I don't want to snack but I suppose I could make some deviled eggs. Dang mayo has carbs too! LOL

        Hi Donna

        I found it took a week or two before I didnt feel I needed to snack constantly, so don't worry about it. Just make sure you have plenty available so you dont get persuaded to snack off-plan.

        All cream cheese has 'some' carbs, so you need to read labels. I discovered that Waitrose own brand has about 2 grams per 100 grams (half the carbs of Philadelphia brand).

          No, I'm not in the UK. I'm in the US, (Georgia) home of the breaded, deep fried everything! The fair is gonna be totally NO fun this year! I never ride the rides just eat the foods! LOL ( and look at the quilts, my favorite )
          I think I will skip it this year.

          Glad to hear I'm not the only one that wanted to snack. I have started trying to brush, floss and rinse with mouthwash so I won't want to get my teeth all dirty again.

          My family is sitting there eating a huge bowl of popcorn right now.
          Man this is gonna be hard!!!!!

            You will get to the point that resisting those forbidden foods comes easy to you. Trust me on this one, because I am a major carb addict!!! I probably had to have a bag of potato chips every day before this Atkins go round. And I didn't think twice about sticking some ridiculous carb-laden food in my mouth. I ate out of habit. Now it doesn't bother me. I still occasionally look wistfully at chips in the store and think about how much I miss them, but then I remember that even though I love potato chips...they do NOT love me! (As witnessed by the size of my butt!)

            When I am at work, I don't even realize it is lunch time until the girls show up (my office is the unofficial lunch gathering place)

            And yeah, they all say "I would NEVER be able to do that!" with their faces all screwed up. Meanwhile, one of them has been on a low-fat diet for at least four months and she isn't losing a single pound. I tried to convert her to Atkins but it just isn't working. Maybe when I lose more weight, she will change her mind

              When you go to the fair, there will be sausages or turkey drumsticks or something you can eat. By that time, if you do this right, you won't care about funnel cakes. Weird but true!
