  • Can you eat too little on Induction? Does that mess it up?

As I take care of my sick and velcro- attached three year old for the second day of stomach flu, it occurs to me to ask if I get nothing to eat but two eggs in the morning and two eggs in the evening, is this going to mess my Induction up? Do I need to be digesting more food in order for my body to draw the stored fat and burn it? Or will I burn the stored fat when I use up the calories from the eggs? I'm not hungry if it matters, though that might be from cleaning up vomit all day and night.

I had a day last week where i ended up being very busy and unable to eat much and it didnt seem to affect my diet at all. Just get back on track when its possible.

I hope your little one feels better soon.

Id be a little worried because you arent getting any veggie carbs and you need 3 cups of veggies a day. I think you should follow as close to induction rules as absolutely possible. To answer your question, yes it can mess you up because it can put your body in starvation mode and when you starve your body of what it needs, it holds onto every fat cell. When you follow this woe just the way Dr. A wrote it, it tends to work best imo Good luck with that sick kiddo, I know how awful that can be!

Re: Can you eat too little on Induction? Does that mess it up?

I'd love to be eating three cups of salad a day but since my son has been vomiting about every 40 minutes, that's not really possible. He screams if I leave him to go to the bathroom. He's puked in virtually my entire house on the floors.

I'm just confused because people on the Fat Fast consume only a thousand calories a day and actually lose weight. But at the same time, is it calorie restriction or trying to eat less fat that foils induction? Or both? Anyone have a page citation?

Missing my veggies will cause me to have a day where I feel really blah. Is it likely to stop your weight loss? No. At some point the child will fall asleep and you can eat, and it is important to keep up your energy and well-being, taking care of a sick child takes so much patience. It is generally a poor idea to eat less than 1200 calories a day, but one day isn't going to do you in. However, do the best you can, so that you can feel the best that you can in the circumstances.

As a mother of a child that is a puker everytime she is sick, i know how hard it is to eat anything when the smell seems to lerk in your nostrils. I doubt it would stall your weightloss. When i first did this diet (1999) I was using the 1992 edition of the book, which does not specify cups of veges to eat a day. Being a typical 17 yr old i rarely ate veges, only the occasional salad, and i still lost 80 lbs in 6 months. Though i do believe to a point that you can feel better eating veges and it is healthier, i dont believe that if you miss a few days it is terrible and you wont go into starvation unless you allowing yourself to go hungry.

Dont worry about following the diet exactly til your child is better and you can devote yourself to it. Right now your child is more important so do the best you can and then get back on track when you can.

            Take care.
