  • At a loss... very upset

Ok, I have completed 2 weeks of Induction, and did everything I was supposed to. My first week I lost 6lbs. This week 0. I was hoping that my measurements would show a loss... they actually showed a GAIN in some areas and minute loss in a others. My overall inches lost this week is 0.95. I don't know what the total is since I began because unfortunately I forgot to take the measurements when I first began. But what am I doing wrong? I even exercised...nothing big, just about 30min/day 3 days a week. I am on the verge of tears right now because I feel like my hard work was for nothing.
    Any suggestions?
BTW, I drink at least 100oz of water a day too!

I am sure if we look hard enough we could find my post on here that states something similar to yours. This is normal.
I wish you had measured in the beginning because you would have a better idea of what you have accomplished.
When I was feeling frustrated I read some great posts by SHerri and also this thread. It really puts things in perspective:

This adds some humor and a better understanding on things!
Stick with it...be patient and enjoy it! You are going to be so HOT!

The sad thing is, I FEEL like I lost something. I was so excited to measure today...what a let down. I have been reading the book too... almost done.

Re: At a loss... very upset

I know what you mean. I have been on extended induction know and I have lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks but for 2 of those weeks the scale did not move at all!!I even gave up sweetners, diet soda, I only drank water and I drank 80-120 ounces a day. I was so disgusted and then I found out some interesting information Our fat cells actually have a defense system and as they shrink in size they maintain their size by taking in water. It can take 6 weeks to eliminate that excess fluid.

You said you have been drinking a 100 ounces of water a day. Have you noticed if you have been visiting the ladies room as much as you probably should? It could be possable that you are losing the fat but carrying the water. You may be one of those people like me that sheds 6-8 pounds in a week than nothing for 2weeks than shed another 5-6 pounds of water. Keep up the good work! You will see the results if you are patient!

you will see results! I too lose weight in a very sluggish manner. I don't know if it is metablolism or what. I do know that it will come off eventually, but it won't come off in large spurts very often. Continue to monitor your measurements--that was where I was going wrong in the beginning as I just relied on the scale. The inches will come off as you replace the fat with muscle. I promise

Hope you are feeling better as your day progresses.
Are you eating enough?? And what about those pepperoni slices? Do they have sugar?
Keep hanging in there. And remember the other benefits, not just the number on the scale.

Re: At a loss... very upset

You have already lost 13% of what you needed to lose, so I would call that a great result

We all lose weight differently, sometimes pounds, sometimes inches and sometimes nothing measureable at all (or even gain) so try not to think you are doing anything wrong or that Atkins is not working for you

I noticed you were thinking about staying on induction for longer - with about 40 pounds left to go you might be one of the people who would benefit by a move to OWL to continue losing.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Yes it is all looking good. You're doing well. Think about how you are improving your health every day. The losses will catch up. Sometimes there is a bit of a stall second or third week. Happened to me too.

I just wanted to say that I REALLY appreciate the encouragement you all gave me! It meant a lot

Today is my official day to check the scale and I am happy to report that it went down 1.5lbs. That definately helped boost my spirits today. I know that sometimes there will be lulls, and I am prepared to deal with them. I think the thing that bothered me the most was not seeing a real loss in my measurements, but I know it will come!

                          Again, thank you SO much!

Sometimes I have to step back and focus on how I feel, especially when the scale and/or tape measure don't show a big change. The fact is that I feel better on this WOE and enjoy not having uncontrollable urges to gorge on carbs throughout the day. In the past I might have cheated after a "bad" week. Lately I've noticed that if I redouble my efforts the following week, I often (not always) have a "woosh" the following week! Stay on plan and you'll do fine.

You might double check your salad dressing, even though you only have a small amount of it. I checked my favorite vinaigrette in the fridge and found the first ingredient was high fructose syrup. That nasty sugar can hide in a lot of places!
