I have been on the atkins for 8 days now and have stuck to the diet :yummy totally. A typical day consist of Breakfast 9am: 3 Scrambled eggs pint of water. Lunch 1pm: Smoked sausage, 1 ounce cheese, pint of water. Tea 6pm: Half chicken breast, 3 sausages, 2 fryed eggs, pint of water. I very rarely have anything in between meals if i have anything it is normally 1 ounce of cheese. So as you can see i dont really have any carbs and stick to the diet totally. :angelanim My boyfriend started the same time as me and eats practically the same as me :hug but he hasnt seen any change yet
. I thought we would see the weight lost within the first two weeks. This is getting me down as i cant see why i am putting my body through all this if it isnt going to work. :thumbsdo: Please if anyone can help :help me find out where i am going wrong please let me know i would be really gratefull :Tigger

Hi and welcome.
First thing is first. Did you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 ed because I notice a lack of vegetables in the menu you posted? To do Atkins properly you must also eat the required amount of the appropriate vegetables.
Secondly, I don't know what's in the sausage you are eating, so be sure that it doesn't contain added sugars or grain fillers. I've seen sausages with carb counts of 6 per sausage---all due to the grain fillers and added sugar. Also eggs have carbs, about 0.6 for a USDA Grade A Large egg.
Thirdly, are you exercising? Exercise is "non-negoitable" according to Dr. Atkins and it's a vital part of this way of life.
Fourthly, you don't indicate how much weight you need to lose. Most people can expect to lose between 5-10% of the weight they need to lose during Induction. So for someone with 10 pounds to lose, that's about 1/2 to 1 pound. For someone with 100 pounds to lose that's about 5-10 pounds.
Please read the book. I know my post sounds a bit harsh, but you are only hurting yourself if you don't do this properly. There are too many misconceptions and outright lies about this diet. So please read the book and educate yourself about this diet, for your sake.

Hi Becky :wave
Welcome to
ha
I am sure that once you introduce the three cups of veggies you will start to see some changes.
Also make sure you drink enough water - the rule of thumb is 64 fluid ounces plus 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose.
Did you take your measurements before starting? If not , do so now so you can chart your inches lost as well. Sometimes we find no weight change at the same time as we see ourselves shrinking!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Watch your cheese intake aswell its limited too during induction. Could be as simple as what your drinking. Nothing aspertame! = drink water, exercise. Check out your sausage, lots of sausage has fillers. Make sure your eating your veges too.. not only do you need that but it has fiber for proper movements etc.

Relax and give it time
don't be discouraged - give your body its own time table in making this big adjustment. this isn't a diet. its a forever. Do not focus on weight loss, focus on all the benefits you will receive by adopting this new lifestyle. Above all, eat everything you are supposed to eat. Eating less could prevent weight loss. my boot camp commander vharper was stuck at a particular weight. when she added more veggies she started to lose weight again.

Re: THANK YOU
I'm in the exact same boat as you. Well, on my 8th-9th day with only 2 pounds lost. Considering I'm looking to drop 60 pounds and have been in ketosis all week, this hasn't really helped my motivation. I have read the book and have sticked to the plan, so I don't understand what I could be doing wrong. I lost the 2 pounds within the first few days, and haven't moved an inch or kilo since. Is it possible to eat too big a portion of food, regardless of how little carbs are in it?Originally posted by beckyboopHi :wave everyone who replied to my post "why dont i feel like i have lost any weight" well most of you have told me to eat my veg :eating , excersise :dancing , get enough water :capital and check my sausage :speechle: . Re: THANK YOU
Absolutely - if you eat way too many calories than what you are burning you will gain weight!!Originally posted by GoalstarIs it possible to eat too big a portion of food, regardless of how little carbs are in it?
This WOE seems to work by allowing us to eat high fat foods which with most of us fill us up so we actually dont eat as many calories as we did before. Are you haveing the right proportions of fats/protein/carbs in what you eat?
You need to have about 65%/30%/5% to get losing, so if you havent already get a 'free account' at www.fitday.com and start writing down everything you eat including the fats you cook with and see what sort of figures you come up with.
You can make your account 'public' (scroll down the home page to do this) and post a link to it here so people can comment on your intake and help you 'tweak' it - or if you prefer post your daily menu in the 'Review my menu' forum and ask for advice there.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thank you so much for the advice hun! I've posted up my daily 'menu' on the 'Review Menu' forum so perhaps you could review it for me?
I also do know that I'll need to step up my exercising a little, and should probably lower my cheese intake. I'm still making sure to eat under 20 grams of carbs and haven't stepped out of ketosis once.
Here is a link to my menu;
Thank you for your time.

Apart from what Joan has mentioned about too much cheese - must be 'real' cheese, not 'cheese food' - it seems ok to me too.
Maybe you are not drinking quite enough water - you want to lose 67 pounds so need to drink 64 ounces plus 8 ounces for every 25 pounds so that would be 64 + 8 + 8 + 4 = 84 ounces which is about 2.5 litres.
Try not to get on those scales till after day 14 of induction and see what happens by then.
BTW several members lost absolutely nothing in induction but have since reached goal. We all lose differently and you may be one who loses better in OWL.
Just keep following the plan :hugWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Becky, while on the Atkins it's essential to read the labels. Some foods that you think don't have a lot of carbs, DO!!!! So you and your boyfriend need to read the labels carefully.
Also excercising is extremely important.
I am going to start the Atkins plan in a couple of days and joined a gym too. I was on the plan a year ago and still have maintained the weight loss but need to tone up a bit and perhaps lose a bit more, but I noticed I lost more inches the first 2 weeks than weight. That was frustrating to me, BUT at least I was losing.
I took measurements of my arms, legs, waist, hips, thighs, chest and butt and I averaged a 2.5 inch loss everywhere in those first 2 weeks. It was truly a wonderful feeling.
Good luck and don't get frustrated :wave

I eat 'Tasty' cheese which I'm sure is real cheese. With water, I drink at least 2 litres while at work from two 1 litre bottles. I also drink water in the morning and night-time, but as I don't know exactly how much that is, I didn't include it. I'd like to think I hit the 2.5litre mark on that note.Originally posted by ElizellenApart from what Joan has mentioned about too much cheese - must be 'real' cheese, not 'cheese food' - it seems ok to me too.

I think I'm going to scout out a few members here who reached their goal weight despite not losing while on Induction! I'm sure it'd make for good motivation.
Is it really possible that some people lose weight better in OWL? How so?
PS: Thank you for the input, I really appreciate your help!
