  • I cant DO this!!!

This induction diet is just SOO difficult!!! I did it awhile back, and it worked, but I cannot seem to get back on the schedule. It is impossible... I am good alll day, eating the exact stuff on the induction diet list, but by the end of the day, after finally getting my wild son to bed, I am dying for a drink of wine... or just one handful of nuts, or just a bite of his leftover mac&cheese. Or a piece of my husband's pizza! I am surrounded by carbs. He eats cookies all the time!
    I need help!!
    This is soooo hard!!!
I have 15 lbs of baby weight left... I have to lose them! Was 130 b4 baby, went up to 185 during pregnancy, and am now at 145. Goal weight is 130...or less!
    Help!

    Re: I cant DO this!!!

Do you have foods you can grab when you crave? Like baked chicken legs or cheese sticks or pepperoni slices or sliced leftover steak or deviled eggs? It might make all the difference if you have emergency snacks handy.

And you can always tear the toppings off of hubby's pizza!

you CAN DO this!!!! Just stop and think what a difference those 15lbs will make and remember how fabulous you've done already!!!

I find that planning really helps me - so if I want a snack there is something in for me to have without sacrificing my diet.

Come on you can do it!!!

I can imagine that's hard but how about taking the baby out for a wander when you feel the urge to snack and like we've already said if you've got some yummy snacks avalible then you can just grab and not even think about the carbs. x

                Re: I cant DO this!!!

Oopsies are a variation on Dr Atkins recipe for revolution rolls posted in this very useful recipes thread
                http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...pes-added.html
Atkins Revolution Rolls (substitute for sandwich buns)
                makes 6 rolls.

                3 large eggs (1.8 )
                1 1/2 ounces cream cheese, softened (1.5)
                1/2 teaspoon onion powder (0.7)*
                1 pinch salt (0)
1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar (0.3)

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with either wax paper or cooking parchment paper. If using wax paper, butter or oil it. Set aside

Separate the egg whites from the egg yolks. To the egg yolks add the cream cheese and onion powder. Mix well and set aside.

To the egg whites, add the cream of tartar and salt. Beat the egg whites until it forms very stiff peaks.

Fold the egg yolks into the egg whites. Do not overmix because the egg whites will provide the "leavening" for the rolls.

Using two tablespoons, drop the mixture into 6 equal mounds onto your prepared cookie sheet.

Bake for 30-40 minutes in the middle rack of your oven. Cool completely. Store in the refrigerator in an air tight container.

*May replace the onion powder with 1 packet of Splenda. The carb count remains roughly the same per roll.

                Per 1 serving( 1 roll)
                Total carbs: 0.8 grams
The oopsies use twice as much cream cheese.

I usually make my revolution rolls with mayonnaise instead of the cream cheese so as to save my cheese 'allowance' for other meals/snacks
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Re: I cant DO this!!!

I don't know how old your little boy is. I have a 3year old and 20month old twins and i GET how being around them is hard. i mean it's hard anyway...but from a food standpoint it's torture. i caught myself almost eating thier food all the time at the begining. But I hung a sign int he kitch that read "what is on my plate is MY food" I mean I'd never grab off another adults plate. I wouldn't nosh off of Uncle Joe's left overs....so i made a conscious effort to not take from them either. I also revamped the way they were eating and got rid of the "mindless" carbs from their diet. After all....they really don't need all the crackers and such. so while they eat many more carbs than me. They now eat a very whole grain, fruits/veg and higher protien diet. for snack they have some fruit or a piece of rolled up ham, or a cheese stick and that way i can be part day in a much happier way I made the mistake of buying some wheat crackers (sort of likea whoel grain wheat thin) and it drove me BATTY having it in the house...and really they DON'T need it in theri lives either!

Page 253 of the DANDR has a paragraph about having food in the house "for the kids"...it's food for thought and echoes Mommato3girls' comment...

Also for evening cravings, I wonder if by adding some good fats into your daytime menu, you'd feel more satisfied by evening...do you like avocado? I like to eat it with a handful of pork rinds for chips. How about cream cheese slathered on celery sticks? Or cream cheese rolled up in a slice of ham or turkey?

                        Re: I cant DO this!!!

                        Hey girl,
You sound just like me. I too just had my 2nd daughter this past Jan. and just the stress of having tons of things to do all day, one after the other, non-stop drove me to use the things I used to enjoy b4 babies, on a daily basis- like drinking for example. I used to drink when out with friends hard core, and I had the time of my life- now that those days are behind me I wanted to get the same feeling even after my kids. So, like you, after they would go to sleep I would have a few beers, or a few glasses ofwine to relax after a hard day. I knew what I was doing was not helping me lose weight- but I did what I wanted to do- I drank, and drank, and drank, and gained, and noticed my clothes fitting me snugger-and then I had that breaking moment when I said- Ok that's enough of that- I got down to business and started the clean induction and so far so good. I'v lost about 6 lbs in my 1st week, and yes- have thought of my yummy beer or wine- but I wouldn't trade the feeling of losing for a drink. My clothes is fitting me loose, my pants have some room to spare- I'm setting goals now to fit into my pre-babies clothes I still have in the closet. I'm on my 8th day of induction and still going strong! Don't get me wrong- I plan to have my drink on day 15- but I'm still sticking to the plan aside from my cucumber martini, after seeing such great results, I won't be drinking on a daily basis anymore- Once you see progress- you will be motivated to stay on track. When you are ready, really ready, you will not make excuses for yourself and get down to business like I am doing. You can do it- but you decide when. Good luck to you and congrats on your baby! Remember, he is worth every pound you gained!

Abbey, thanks so much. I loved your response. I am feeling so similar. My one-year old tornado boy is sooo much work, from like 5am till 8:30pm, that by the time he sleeps I am like BRING ON THE WINE. It is sooo hard not to just have wine to relax, esp with my back pain and him being so squirmy and hard to hold all day!!! But I HAVE to lose this weight. None of my clothes fit, and fall is coming and I cannot fit into anything. I am so sick of trying on all of my tiny clothes in my closet, looking in the mirror and seeing my huge tummy-- it still sticks out from pregnancy. ARGH. I also joined the gym this week and am going to try to get there 3-4 times a week! Whew. Okay so I avoided wine these past few days, along with avoiding hubby's yummy pasta, and I am so excited to say that I lost 4 lbs! Cannot wait to lose MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
