  • question! i'm a newbie =)

    Hi everyone,

My name is Tiana, I new to this forum..I started Induction about a week ago and I have lost 3kg since (6.6 pounds). I just had a few questions to ask:-

    1) are we allowed to have chewing gum?
    2) I found during my frist week that sometime when I was at work I needed a sugar boost, I found these fruity kind of drops (they are very small) at the shop and they have no carbs but have 0.2 sugar per 100grams (the packet itself is only 25grams). Is this ok for me to have?
I have found that if i need a sugar hit when im at home I mix splenda and cream together and just have a tbs or 2 and it does the trick. Does anyone have any other quick and simple solutions for a sweet snack?

I hope to be a more regular user of this forum! I log on to it every day, it motivates me to keep on track so thank you guys

    Tiana

    Re: question! i'm a newbie =)

    Hi,

    1) Chewing gum (the sugarfree one) is made with aspartame, and aspartame is nasty. It can stall people and there are controversies regarding its health effects. This is the objective answer... Now the subjective one, I do have chewing gum sometimes, although I try to avoid it in general because I tend to eat too much. But before e.g. meeting my thesis supervisor, in case I don't have my toothbrush with me, I do have a chewing gum to get rid of the ketosis breath. Otherwise I'm afraid he might stop paying me...

    2) I would not eat them. A bit of sugar usually brings more and more friends with it. From my experience, the best way to stay on track is to avoid sugar, even in trace amounts.

    3) There are a lot of options for dessert when doing Atkins. You can find many of them on this board (there's a forum for this) or on Linda's website: Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home
