Yes it is possilbe. The 14 days is the minimum, many people like myself move into "Extended Induction" after the initial 14 days. Good luck!1st Goal ~ 199 Onderland -Met 3/29/10

3rd Goal ~ 150 In the home stretch
Final Goal ~ 145 or below (I'll know when I get there) No longer overweight

2) 40 pounds lost to move to Rung 5
3) 45 pounds lost to update 15 pound loss picture series

It's possible to Induction longer than 14 days, but the real question is will it enable you to lose weight consistently and/or quickly. The real answer to that is we can't say for certain. Dr. Atkins wrote that the people who have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss may benefit from doing Induction longer because it may correct the metabolic imbalances that hinder weight loss. So how do you determine your degree of metabolic resistance? You see how much weight you have lost during the first 14 days and look that number up in the charts in the book. Only then can you determine what your metabolic resistance is. I'm telling you this because we have some folks with a 50 pound weight loss goal who mistakenly believe they have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss because they "only" lost 10 pounds.Originally posted by lauralove! What I've observed on this board is that the people who have low to moderate metabolic resistance and who continue on Induction longer than the 14 days, eventually hit a weight loss plateau that is only broken when they move onto On-Going Weight Loss phase. Why that happens, I don't know.~Megs~

You can stay in induction longer. But I know Atkins mentioned that you should stay in induction if you have a lot of weight to lose. But I've also read here that people stall and the only way they pass that is if they move on to the next phase. They'll lose a lot during the first two weeks, stay in induction and then only lose like 3lbs in two weeks.

To be honest, Laura - no-one can say!! Your body will lose weight as and when it does, so all you can do is stick to the plan and enjoy the ride.Originally posted by lauralove! If you feel that eating at induction level of carbs (max 20 net grams) and options - no peanuts/wine/fruit/etc - will not make you frustrated at all the foods you are depriving yourself of and tempt you to cheat with non-induction foods, then you can choose to do so as long as you want.
But as has been said, many members here found that they stopped losing weight after a long time on induction and only restarted their losses when they moved to the second (main weightloss) phase of Atkins.
However in order to be able to stay at your goal weight once you reach it you will be better to follow the four phases of Atkins as detailed in the book we follow here, Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition (also called here DANDR) rather than stay on induction till you reach goal.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
