  • New with "FOOD QUESTIONS" please help!

I am on induction and have a couple of questions:
    :help

    1.- What is a Frankenfood?

2.- RE: Flax seed for fiber. Can I use it on induction? The one that I bought reads 2gm-carbs - 2gm. fiber = 0 Is that correct?

    3. Can I eat pork rinds on induction?

    4. In the book it list most meats & cheeses as "FREE" food. Does this mean that I could snack on a piece of chicken and cheese if I get hungry during the day or night? I have not been really that hungry since I started but last night I did have some cheese and turkey while watching T.V.

    5. RE: Sugar Free Jello. Is this an allowed food/treat. It is not listed in my book.

Thanks for any help you can give.
    Have a beautiful "Atkins" day.

    welcome to ADBB

frankenfood is foods that are not natural ingredient in the food world and in low carb circles have those mythical magiacal counting noncounting sugar alcohol carbs in them. By definition fiber is the only compouns that does not get metabolized in any manner from the time it enters your mouth till it exits your butt. it does have calories just humans can't use them so we get to subtract those carbs as free carbs cause they can't do nada to us.
the rest of those mythical magical counting noncounting carbs are metabolized in some manner and it can be different for each person so you should think very hard about what you might be doing to that appetite control you have just gained when you consume something with them in it. Once you understand your body and how your body reacts to carbs on your Atkins program you can use them in an occasional treat if you really want to. I count every carb other then fiber in my carb budgets.

Jello is sweetened with aspartame jello is the generic term for gelatin and if yours is Splenda sweetened it is allowed. Aspertame stalled out 25% of Dr Atkins patients so he removed it from the acceptable sweetner list to assure as many folk following his plan as possible would be successful. you may or may not be one of those folk and can test for yourself after your induction is over.

Pork rinds are the junk food of low carbers and as junk food you should limit your consuption of them. in the famous Duke study they were limited to one cup a day.

Cheese is nopt a free food you must have an old book cheese is limited to 4 ounces a day during induction and only increases when we hit the 2nd rung of OWL

grind the flax to meal and it is fine per rule 12 of induction ofr constipation and as a fiber

    Happy low carbing

oops forgot the snacks you can eat on Atkins any time you are hungry as long as you know it is hunger and not thirst as those control centers are side by side in our brains and chemical spillover occurs and we theink we are hungry when realy we are thristy.

Oh and your book needs to be a 2002 or newer copyright cause the rules changed in his last edition of DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION.
      Happy low carbing.

        Thank you!

        Thanks so much 2big,

What are suggestions of snacks that you like?

I tried the mock danish for breakfast this morning but it was too much like hard eggs - maybe I'm cooking it too long. I think I'll go back to regular eggs.
