    Re: I messed up

It is ok. We all mess up. The important part is to just keep going as if you never ate it. There are about 50g of carbs in a piece of cake. So that put you over by 30g for the day. But you got to keep moving forward. I understand how you feel though, because today my mom and I went to Sonic and I got a large Diet Limeaid. When I got home I went onto the Sonic website to make sure how many carbs were in my drink. I looked at the chart and saw 148g of carbs... I just smacked my hands against my forehead and my heart completely sank because I had been doing so well. Luckily I had just misread and there is actually only 1g in the large drink. But if in fact there had been 148g of carbs in that drink, I would have still kept going like nothing happened. The thing about induction is, it is only 14 days. If you mess up, and have to start from the beginning, you don't have that far to get back where you were. It is a just a few days. Just keep trucking and everything will be fine.

I'm not sure how big the piece was, but most probably it took you out of ketosis.

For how many days have you been on induction? If you have just started induction, I would say take it from the beginning. If you are at the end of the second week, than maybe getting back in ketosis by following induction for several days and then moving to OWL is fine.

And by the way, if you want to do Atkins properly, you are not allowed "to taste" it. Even if "tasting" it means having a single bite.

As a general advice, I would just tell you to get back on track as fast as possible. The longer you're off the more difficult it is to come back.

        Hi Palms,
Just pick up where you left off. Induction for 3-4 days will put you back into ketosis and you'll be burning that cake off in no time. Make sure to flush your system with water, water, water!
If you have a case of sweet cravings. Buy yourself some L-Glutamine and take it. Dr. Atkins explains L-Glutamine on page 136 DANDR. You're allowed 3000 mg a day. I really believe in this supplement. It's something that I have used in the past and it truly works.
Try not to beat yourself up to much. By not giving up, you're showing much strength to succeed. You're building a strong foundation now for a healthier tomorrow. Hang in there. One day at a time and always move forward. You'll reach your goals.
        Sincerely, Sherri

          Re: I messed up

I agree with what's been said here completely. Dust yourself off, make sure you stay in the gym, and get focused on the next meal, on the next day, etc.

I once read a post that hovered around here for a while and it said that one of the best things that can be done (and I agree with it) is to plan your meals ahead of time so there's no last-minute searching for food, and to avoid situations where you come in contact with foods that are trigger foods for you. (For me, I have to watch myself around things that are peanut butter flavored, even smelling it sets me off).

          Good luck.

          Ty.
