  • Doing good- then up 2 lbs

    Hey guys,

Today is my 14th day on induction and I was doing ok up until Saturday. My first weigh in was at 188, then this past Friday, I was down to 178- making it 10 lbs! I was on cloud 9- until Saturday morning- I was back up to 180. So I don't know what could have done it. I have noticed that when I excercise, I go up about 2 lbs the next day. So even though I know its good for you, and I'm really enjoying being active- I'm almost afraid to do more of it.

I'm planning on dropping the sweetner, and cutting back on a cheese allowance just to see if this is what it could be.

I show that I still in Ketosis- but I've been back at the 180 since Saturday, and today is Monday.

I want to lose another 20 lbs- so do you all think I should do induction a week or two more, or that I should move up to OWL.

Please offer any advice on what could be the deal with the gain/stall.

Oh, and should I count my total weight loss at 10 lbs, or 8 lbs?

As always guys, I look forward to hearing from you !!

    Abbey

One of my typical days goes as follows

      2 eggs, fried in butter

      3 pickles (snack) 1 g carb
      string cheese

      or

1 celery stalk w/ cream cheese

lunch: burger, no bunn, ceasar salad w/ bacon bits, no dressing

dinner: pan fried meat, or chicken w/ a salad, no dressing or steamed veggies like brocolli or cauliflower

I will also have my 3 allowances of splenda in form of a diet soda, or in tea or coffee.

Sometimes I have an evening hot tea, with the splenda and 1-2 tbs whipping cream on top , but that is not every night.

I also drink about 6 glasses of water or more a day

Its just two lbs.. i know it hurts to see it on the scale .. but remember your weight fluctuates all the time! Just keep moving forward ...

looking at your menu it seems like you could use a little more fat in your diet.. Maybe im wrong though?

but Keep up the good work ..

You might also consider adding more veg. I only see a scant 2-3 cups on there. Maybe add some to your bfast. I do my eggs with sauteed peppers and onion, sometimes squash and mushrooms, occasional tomato, and sometimes all of the above, and of course the pan is liberally doused with olive oil.

Ask yourself where are you in relation to your monthly cycle? That could mean a pound or five, in my case.

Re exercise: A couple weekends ago I heard a Dr. Perricone lecturing on his weight loss program. It looks to be another step forward, or a refinement somehow, of the Atkins plan, I haven't had time to look into it. Of course with Dr. Perricone's spin. The interesting point to me was his interpretation of the now-known for about the last 10 years medical fact that chronic low grade inflammation causes obesity and chronic disease. It seems that inflammation causes an insulin spike. Or is it the other way around? I shouldn't quote him without being sure of my facts. But the upshot for me was, in Dr. Perricone's plan he recommends only 30 minutes per day of moderate exercise, not vigorous exercise, for those trying to lose weight. Because of the idea that more exercise than that can cause increased inflammation...

I've also noticed that heavy exercise makes me retain water for a couple of days. Can't remember enough biology to say why that is, but it seems to me to have something to do with this inflammation thing...something worth looking into, maybe.
