  • Need Moochiecat's flax bun recipe

    Hello!
I mentioned in my last post that I was a big time lurker the last time I attempted this WOE. I got your flax bun recipe last November and LOVED it, but I have lost it in a recent move, would you mind posting it again?
    Thanks so much!

Wish I could take credit for it, but I can't!
I got it from Linda's Low Carb

and here's the link to the recipe

Bear in mind that Flax is limited to 1 to 2 tbs a day when used for constipation relief. Do NOT sit down and eat this whole bun if you've never had flax before. :yikes and remember to drink lots of water when you do have it.
I like to cut it into three thin slices and have one a day as an open faced sandwich. It keeps well in the refrigerator too.

I need to add that while her review of this bun is less than stellar, I found it to be really handy, and that made up for the 'this is not a real bun' taste of it. I mean, of course it's not going to have the taste or mouth feel of bread...cuz it's not bread! But it's a really decent substitute.
You can add herbs and grated parmesan cheese to it if you want to make it savoury. Or a bit of cinnamon and splenda..this is nice smeared with cream cheese.

Again, start out with smaller portions of it, remembering that it's recommended as a remedy for constipation. I've never had more than two slices of it in a day.

I used pumpkin pie spices with a little splenda sweetened cream cheese on it, it was like a pumpkin muffin (oh so yummy). I don't plan on adding any sweetener this go round of induction though, I'm going to do it totally right.
          Thanks!!

I think this is a similar recipe from the recipe section above
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Can you buy flax seed at the grocery store or do you need to go to a health food store?

I have found it at both. I use Bobs Red Mill. It has to be kept in the fridge.

I found mine at both as well, it was about a dollar cheaper at the grocery store, but I like to support my natural foods co-op!

They are usually in either the baking isle or the natural food section if you store has one.
