  • Stall so soon?

Hello all. I've been following the boards for several weeks and know that stalls are not uncommon and to be expected. I am a bit surprised, however, that I have reached a halt after only 10 days and my weight has not budged for the last 4. Nothing has changed in my dining choices since I began.
Has anyone else had this experience in times past? If so, how did you break the stall? Thank you, Kate.

    Re: Stall so soon?

Hi Kate, I wouldn't consider 4 days a stall - have you measured? I have stayed the same for 2 weeks but my body has changed shape completely and I have lost inches everywhere! This diet is not about the scales!!

Also different times of the month could be a factor for us lovely ladies.

Don't give up - maybe if you post your menu the wise ones here could give you some of their giving and expert advice....

    Good luck!

Dr. Atkins wrote that a weight loss plateau/stall on his diet is 4 consecutive weeks without loss of pounds or inches. So you aren't in a stall.

Have you been losing inches? Dr. Atkins wrote that the loss of inches was more indicative of the loss of fat, because it represented the fat emptying from our body.

        Thank you for your responses!

I guess the word "stall" was a poor choice of words...an abrupt halt would have been better. heh
I agree that measurements are the best indicator and will base most of my success on them and not the scale. I did record mine on day 1, however, I think I mis-measured as the numbers were radically different at day 8. Oops.
I can accept that there may be other contributing factors that have brought me to this dilemma and continue on course.
I must say that this is the first time I have not been frustrated at a weight loss attempt, which makes it so much easier to continue; even with these types of situations.

How about posting a detailed menu Kate? That may help us give you some hints if anything is off.

B: Crustless spinach quiche with 1/2 the amount of cheese the recipe calls for (recipe from this forum)
L: 2 C salad with lettuce, green pepper, celery, onion, mayo, cheddar cheese on occasion and 3 crumbled bacon strips
S: 2 -3 eggs with salt and pepper
D: Chicken or fish (baked, grilled or fried) with either cauliflower soup (recipe from this forum), cucumbers and sour cream or butter-sauteed mushrooms and peppers
            *I only drink regular water.

I'm pretty good about watching the cheese allotment since I am not a huge fan of it in the first place.

Thank you so much for your time in helping me!

I think the menu looks good. Lots of good fat and veggies. You probably are just seeing a bit of adjustment. It happens to almost everyone. After the first whoosh things slows up a bit but then it keeps going.
