  • Normal to feel "puffy" in the tummy day 3?

Hello! I feel great and positive but cant help but to notice my tummy looks BIGGER? I am thinking I have been eating MORE than normal since I was trying to limit my calories to 1200 a day before three days ago and trying Atkins. I am thinking I have a lot of food that is in my bowels? Protein? I normally eat carbs ALL day ...even at 1200 calories---1000 of them would be carbs.

Is this normal at first to feel...well...bigger in the tummy? Again-thinking protein is in my bowels/intestines/etc and may be causing this feeling/look....
    THANKS

    Hi,

It never happened to me, but here are some tips:
    • drink more water... aim for at least 64 oz per day
    • cut down on protein and add more fat... Atkins it's a high fat diet, not a high protein one
    • make sure you're eating your veggies (12-15 net carbs should come from them)
    • don't eat/drink low carb junk food (e.g. diet soda, Atkins bars, Atkins shakes, pork rinds)

    Hope this helps.

Thanks...I do love my diet sodas and did read about them on the threads and why to avoid them... Also--too cheap to buy the atkins bars or meals but did indulge in pork rinds yesterday...).

I am drinking TONS of water...OK there! ....

Yep --fiber /carbs from vegies. Trying to add more. That may be where I am lacking.

I may also buy some Metamucial (sp) and did add FLAX meal to my salad today for fiber but that only had 4 g fiber. Not a lot. I am NOT getting the recomended fiber each day. It is difficult for me to not link fiber with carbs. I need to read more and add veggies....flax....etc....

THANKS for the tips....I need to focus on some of them to help me!!! ALWAYS good to cut out diet drinks because the chemicals are not good anyway you look at it.

This is all very good advice.

Careful of the sodium in pork rinds, cinnamonstick... that might cause some fluid retention which won't help any puffiness.

I think you are taking here about the 'recommended' 20 g of fiber per day. It's normal not to eat that much during induction. It's hard to get them from 3 cups of veggies and 3 tbsp of flax. Anyway, that's not something to worry about. Induction only lasts for 2 weeks and then you start adding foods back in your menu.

Maybe reading this (see link below) will give you more reasons to give up diet drinks.

I think I just need to move the protein though my bowels/intest. I think I am SO USE TO CARBS which my body burns up in no time. Protein takes loger to digest...I am thinking this is the feeling. Who knows. The truth is I dropped 2 lbs today from yesterday. Water weight. But ask me if care????

I am afraid to look at the COKE vs Water link....but I will!!

            THANKS!!!!!!!
