Caribe, rather than counting calories, you must follow your appetite. If you overeat, you'll gain. The trick is to eat to satisfy your hunger, no more, no less. If you're eating according to the Atkins plan and not gorging, it'll happen.

Thank you for your suggestion. Hopefully by the end of week three I will see some weight loss. I am hoping for the "woosh" everyone keeps talking about . BTW, it must be hard maintaining your eating plan with all that good pasta in Italy. OMG, I couldn't do it!

For what it's worth, I agree with what's been said here. Your fat intake looks pretty low at first glance, and I would ditch the tomato...I know it's on the other vegetables list, but I have had some stalling/bad experience with it, and a friend of mine likewise had to ditch it. I would also ditch the splenda and the onions. Just again, from my own experience.

One reason I like FitDay is because it taught me that I was eating TOO FEW calories. And I was going into starvation mode. For me I am suppose to eat 1600-1750 calories to lose weight. I was eating around 1100-1200. I also like that it tells me what percentage of fat I am eating. So if my daily menu looks too light on something I can make up for it. This might be something to try even just for a week so you can get the proper ratios. I use a 65%fat/25%protein/5%carb ratio, sometimes a little higher on the fat, and a little less on the protein. And remember if you have a stubborn metabolism it might take awhile to fix it. That is what is happening to me, but I am not giving up, nor should you. Best of luck.

Well, I had over 25 years of pasta, so you could say I ate my fill! Actually, I don't miss it at all really, there are so many other wonderful foods here in Italy. I rarely eat pasta substitutions nowadays (shiritaki and dreamfields) and then mainly to fit in with family "occasions".

It's amazing how ones tastes change over a period of time... I wouldn't have believed it, yet it happened!

Oh happy day, the scale moved!! Okay so it was only ONE pound, but a pound is a pound right? I've taken all of your suggestions and have done the following: out with onions, tomatos, iceberg lettuce, splenda, and cheese; in with mushrooms, romaine, cucumbers, red peppers, spinach, butter and 1 tsp. of blue cheese dressing with my meat (ooops, I'm now realizing that perhaps I should avoid this b/c of its cheese content...hmm). Anyway, I would have liked to have lost more, but I am grateful for the two pounds lost during the Induction phase.

Thank you for all of your help!

Great - and spot on target too! You have lost 10% of your total hoped-for loss Well done, Kristen!

BTW - you dont have to drop onions and tomatoes as they ARE allowed, but only up to one cup on induction. and when you move to OWL shortly then you can add 5 net carbs more as well as your induction amount of 3 cups of veg!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Thanks everyone! TinaMarie, I brew my own Lipton tea bags - not flavored or sweetened. I drink 8-10 ozs. each morning. That should count as .7-.9 net carbs if you don't add Splenda. I only drink one glass because it's caffeinated and Atkins suggested eliminating caffiene. Also remember that this doesn't count towards your 64 ozs. of required daily water intake. Good luck!

Re: Really down over here. Having a very hard time.

Thanks again everyone! After getting on the scale this morning and seeing one pound come back on, I've decided to avoid the scale until next Tuesday morning. I know that it's easy for weight to slide a pound or two one way or the other based on water retention, but it messes with my mind so I'm going to avoid daily weighing. I'm going to make Tuesday mornings my "weigh days." I'm also thinking about going to buy a scale that measures to the tenth of a pound. My current scale rounds off to the half pound and seems to flip-flop a lot.

Cinnamonstick, You and I seem to be very similar in the amount of weight we want to lose and the speed with which we're losing it. Also, I'm on Day 17 so we're about at the same spot. My hunger has decreased, but I've been wondering lately if my portion sizes may still be too big. We've had several dinners out over the last week for anniversaries, soccer team end of the season celebration, my mom in town for a visit, and other "life" activities. I order smart, but am not confident in what's in a dish unless I make it myself. I haven't lost any weight during week 3, but instead have gained one pound back. I was really hoping to lose 2 pounds during week 3, but that goal doesn't seem realistic based on what I've seen so far. Gosh, I hope I lose at least 1!!
