  • Casandra Induction Day 1

I am going to do great! I am limited myself to 1 (or 2) Atkins shakes a day, nothing but healthy stuff.

    DID YOU GUYS EXCERSIZE DURING?

I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE A FORUM DEVOTED TO ATKINS AND EVERYONE HERE IS ACTIVE.

I can't tell you how many other forums I have been on and it takes several days to get a reply.

VERY HAPPY TO MEET YOU ALL AND HOPE TO MEET MORE IN THE WEEKS TO COME

Howdy, and good luck on your Atkins journey!

Yes, I exercise - I'm a martial artist and can't live without it!

You might check with the others - I never used 'em - but the Atkins shakes probably isn't the wisest choice. Do you have alternatives?

Please steer clear of the shakes until you are reeeeaaaallly close to your weight loss goal. The tend to stall most people. You really need to learn how to eat low carb so you can maintain for the long haul. If you're drinking the shakes, you really aren't getting the vitamins and nutrients your body is going to need as you cut back on your carbs. Especially during induction. PLEASE EAT FOODS-save the shakes for later in the rungs. I've used them (Never during induction though) and they do strange things at times.
I can honestly say I did not exercise at all during induction and I still lost quite a bit of weight. I DO NOT endorse NOT exercising but I'm just saying you are not doomed for disaster if you don't exercise. I highly recommend you exercise regularly-I can't get enough of the stuff now. The more weight you lose the more your body seems to crave it

          Hey there,

          THANKS!

I did low calorie, I ate under 1000 calories, I have been doing this for about 20 months now (almost 2 years average about a 30 lb lost per year) but I tend to stall a lot.

And since I don't usually eat meat, I got fat by eating a lot of pasta and a lot of carbs (what we also eat a lot of in my culture)

But low carb has worked for me in the past and I am getting VERY impatient with all the stalls low cal is doing to me. IT is like if I eat 100 cals over I don't lose, I even got down to about 200 cals a day on average.

So I am giving low carb a go again, I am on day 4 and doing GREAT! 2 Questions though

1.) can I have fat free/sugarfree whip cream (like half a bottle a day) Land o lakes makes them?

            Hi Cas
            Welcome to ADBB

Have you read Dr Atkins Diet Revolution, which is the version of Dr Atkins books that we work to here? In it he gives a daily limit for cream of 2-3 tablespoons. Depending on the size of the bottle you might be exceeding that, so check the quantity. Also check the ingredients - as many 'sugarfree' foods contain other ingredients that are not 'induction-friendly'.

Also he limits us to three 'servings' of one of the listed sweeteners per day, so if you are having any other sweetened foods or drinks that might take you over the limit.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
