  • Day 5 of Induction and so far lost..........

Not feeling too bad at the moment, dry mouth, a little sicky in the morning, but nothing like the horrors I was preparing for.

I'm not usually a scale fan but this morning on day 5 I thought I would just check that this diet is gonna work for me and shock horror I looked down (through somewhat squinted eyes) to find I'd lost 7.5 pounds!!!! Woo-Woo for me!!!!!! :joy

So that is it now - no peeking until after induction!! ensive

Anyhow question is - is that a safe amount to loose? Will most of that be water??

    Thank you all
    Tracey

    Hello!

It's my understanding that you can expect to lose around 10% of what you need to lose during the induction period. Seven pounds in your first week isn't unsafe.

Don't be upset to notice that the losses get smaller after the second week. So, sit back and enjoy the big losses you're experiencing now. :joy

BTW, congrats on being an Atkins loser!

    ha rocks!

Absolutely great start, and yes its probably water weight but who cares, pounds are pounds are pounds and gone pounds are the best.
Did you measure yourself cause there will be those frustrating times on this woe when the pounds will seem to want to stick but the inches will go. Watching yourself shrink it a lot of fun
Measure, chest, waste, hips, theigh and upper arms and write it down someplace where you won't lose it like I did the first time. LOL

      Again, great start, congratulations

Congratulations of a successful first 5 day! As to the safety there are lots of Atkineers on the board, who have lost about what you have in the first 5 days. Your body is consuming all the stored glycogen as its final gasp to burn glucose for fuel. Attached to the glycogens are 2 parts water. As the glycogen stores never really return as they were before (2-3 days of reserves), this water loss is permanent. Is it safe, you bet it is.

Good job on the weight loss and getting yourself into ketosis, but more importantly gaining control over what it is you are eating.

Congratulations Tracey 7.5 pounds gone and gone for good. keep up the good work.

Alishac you have mentioned that you dont lose weight easily in other words a high metabolic resistance. I would suggest that first weigh and measure yourself, clean up the kitchen, stock up and go through a clean induction measuring your veggies and counting your carbs. I hope you have the DANDR and have read through it. Why i say this is that different diets produce different results and it would be best for us to determine your resistance after the clean induction that way we follow the atkins guidlines of high or low metabolic resistance.

Hope that kinda helped. Now dont forget to drink up your water good luck and happy losing!!!!You can do it!!
