  • My first week of induction

    Hello everyone:

I'm kind of worry. I started my diet last sunday, since that moment on, I have been very loyal to the idea of not consuming more than 20g of carbs. On Tuesday I check my weight and I was 174.8, then I wait till friday ( my 6 day) to check if there was any changes. It was very frustrating I weight 174.0. It is that normal? I was expecting something more drastic. The truth is that was the reason for me to choose this diet.
Ohh, I did workout the first three days.

I would like you to give me any advice.

What's your menu? You can post it under 'Review my Menu'. Without it, it's hard to give you any advice.

Also, what are your age, height, initial weight, goal weight?

Re: My first week of induction

I know it can be frustrating only losing .8 of a pound but at least it's something. Don't become discouraged because there may be a simple cure for the problem. Maybe you're retaining water from too much salt or the time of the month. Or maybe you are eating too much cheese which can cause a stall, or other things may be to blame, and a little tweaking of your diet will change those things. Just don't give up because your health is too important, so hang in there.

Give us more details so we can help. Remember to drink lots of water!

Re: My first week of induction

Remember that induction is a 14 day period of time, so wait till then to judge how well you have been losing.

Bear in mind that some people lose a lot in the first week then nothing in the second, some lose nothing at first then lose inthe second week and some lose absolutely nothing in the whole 2 weeks but if they follow the phases of Atkins they can get to goal too!

As Georgiana suggested you might try posting the exact food you have been eating/drinking including quantities and amounts so others can see if they spot anything that needs altering, but it might just be the way your body loses weight

Other factors that affect weightloss could be your hormonal cycles (women often even gain weight around that 'time of the month') as well as how much fat your body has to lose - so post your height/weight/gender as well as your goal weight so it can be taken into account.

An 'average' loss in the first 2 weeks on induciton is said to be between 5% and 10% of the total amount you want to lose - so someone with 100 pounds to lose might lose between 5-10 pounds whereas someone with a total of 20 pounds to lose might lose between 1 and 2 pounds in the 32 weeks and be doing just as well percentage-wise!

Also we sometimes lose fat when our weight stays the same, so make sure you take measurements of various parts of your body - waist, hips, chest, thigh, arm etc to see if you are losing fat too.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
