    Re: Diet Coke, coffee?

I just started induction again... I was in atkins 5 yrs ago and lost all my extra 25 kilos... over the years I gained 12 ... so I think is time to get back on track now that is still early, now two things I could never live without are coffee and diet coke... I know they are not good but I really need them...

Ron you are selling yourself short by saying you 'need' diet coke and coffee. I myself and like many others had a hard time giving those two up. Diet Coke is a pure addiction. And I never thought I could survive a day without coffee. But my problem is that caffeine messes with my blood sugar and I become insanely hungry when I drink them. I HAD to give them up in order to succeed. It was not easy, but I have never felt better. I have energy all day and no 'high's and low's. I sleep better as well. I buy myself expensive fancy teas as my treat instead. They are still cheaper than coffee and diet coke and they soothe me and the tiny amount of caffeine in green tea gives me just a small pick me up without causing me to become hungry.
So, give yourself some more credit, you do not need those 2 things. You may want them, and that is cool. If they do not interfere with your progress then why not right? But there is life after coffee and diet coke, and its pretty good!

        Re: Diet Coke, coffee?

I too have been addicted to caffeinated diet soda. I used to drink between six and twelve a day. Now, like many others here, I drink a twenty-four ounce cup of water for every one diet soda I drink. So I am down to about three a day. I also now only drink one caffeinated Diet Coke with Splenda in the morning, and two non-caffeinated Diet Shasta flavors throughout the day. Just having the "fizzy" drink seems to help curb my caffeine craving. For a couple of weeks I had headaches from "withdrawls, but it subsided after that. Good luck with your quest and Merry Christmas!

I don't drink coffee, my vise is diet pepsi, but I try to limit it to special occasions only. Here's a tip for your kids. It may only work with your 4 year old, but if he/she stays in bed when they are put there and dosn't get up until morning give them a star on a chart. 5 stars equals a prize. Creat motivation and good sleeping habits. Sleep is important for you too. Mine are teenages now and I thought I would get more sleep, but instead I stay up late, waiting for them to get home safe.
