  • Nonfood treats during Induction

Part of induction for me, is transitioning from rewarding myself with food to using other things to bring pleasure to my life.

In the past, I've always held off on buying new clothes when I wanted to lose weight, because I figured it would be a waste of money when I shrunk out of them. This time, I bought a new pair of jeans BEFORE I started Induction. I felt better about myself immediately-somehow more put together and efficient. I walked around all day in my new COMFORTABLE jeans, feeling like I could do anything. Even lose the weight I've gained and keep it off for life

Somehow, giving myself permission to buy those jeans took off the urgency I've felt to lose weight quickly. Wanting an instant fix has been a downfall for me in the past.I deny myself some nice clothes, then I find myself getting irritated because I'm not losing the weight quick enough for me to have new clothes, then I have a pity party, then I fall off the wagon because I figure I'm NEVER going to lose the weight and get those clothes. This way, I took that excuse away before I ever had the chance to use it! If I want clothes, I'm going to buy clothes (as the budget allows, of course). When I shrink out of them, I'll donate them to charity, and then TWO people can benefit from their purchase.

That got me to thinking about other things I could do. I tend to link tv watching with eating, so I've traded it in for reading in the evenings. My daughter and future DIL introduced me to the Twighlight series, and now I'm hooked, lol. I'm on book three, and hope to make it through book four before we go see the movie in a few weeks. We are going to the midnight showing, IF we can get in.

I call my children to just chat. I email my sister a lot. I play with my new fish. When I get better, I plan to spend more time outside, playing with the dogs.

So what new treat have YOU added to your life lately?

I haven't added treats yet.. but I *LOVED* the Twilight Series. I would stay up until 3/4am to finish a book I had started the afternoon before.

My daughter went to a midnight book signing to get one of the books. She started reading it at soon as she got home. She was so tired, though, she had to re-read the book, because she couldn't remember half of what she had read

I adore the Twilight books! Cannot wait for the movie to come over here! I wish there had been about ten books in the saga!

When I reached the 28 lb mark (2 stone in UK) - it was a real achievement for me so my Mum brought me a new bottle of Chanel perfume. Such a lovely treat and everytime I get a whiff it reminds me of what I have achieved and how I feel!!!

LOL! Everyone I've talked to wishes there would be more books. It was sad that she decided not to write the book from Edward's viewpoint, due to someone revealing her rough draft. Maybe she will change her mind someday.

Congratulations on your weight loss! That is a real achievment! That's really nice that your mom is supporting you Perfume is a LOVELY idea for a nonfood reward!

Thanks for your lovely comments Liliacs! I wish you lots of luck!!

I so agree about the Edward book!!! I downloaded the playlists and listened to them when I read the individual books - I think every writer should do a playlist!!!!

The Host is really good. Very non Cullen/Swan style but still really good!

Oooh, talking about them - I might have to re-read them all now!!!! :0)

kinda off topic but if you liked the twilight series, you gotta read The Host
              by the same author.

My "half way there" reward was a bicycle. I wish I had made it my "Whoo Hoo, I'm did the first 2 weeks" reward because I enjoy riding my bike: I get exercise and I don't spend as much money on gasoline when running errands (which means I can use that saved gas money for things like clothes or on an "expensive" food treat like lobster.)

My right now treat was a new pair of tennis shoes. I've also splurged a bit more on cleaning supplies for the house to get it spic and span . I plan on becoming a clothes and accessories diva! You should look good "NOW" ,while working towards you goals. The better you keep yourself the less likely you will eat and go off track.

Sigh, I'll be done with the Twilight series tonight (well, still looking forward to the movie). I will definitely have to check out "The Host."

My husband got me a bike for Valentine's Day last year, so I know what you mean about enjoying bike riding! That was a cool idea for a halfway there reward! I haven't really thought ahead to a half way there reward yet. I am glad to be half way through induction today!LOL!

I so agree with you. Hence, the new "starter jeans" lol. I could definitely use some work in the clothing and accessories department.Maybe accessories should go on my reward list

Hmm, cleaning supplies. That's a novel idea. Not only does your house benefit, you also benefit by moving around more to clean it!
