  • Ways to survive the "real world"...

A few nights ago, I took my siblings to see "The Pacifier" (good, funny movie by the way :nod ) and of course they were going to get popcorn with lots of butter and pop and candy.

Before we went to the movie I was debating with myself as to whether this was a good idea or not, being as I would be sitting next to them, smelling that tempting scent of hot buttered popcorn, but I had promised them I'd take them (and i'd also promised myself to this WOE) so what I did was take a few plastic baggies and fill them with food.

I filled one baggie with some pepperoni slices, and another baggie with some beef jerkey, and I think I also brought some string cheese with me. I also brought a water bottle. By the time we were ready to go, my jacket was pretty puffy with all my lil baggies and water bottle. Nobody would ever be able to tell I was smuggling in food

And you know what? It worked. I got my siblings 3 small buttered popcorns (which they finished before the previews even started) and as soon as the movie started, I pulled out my lil baggies and snacked on my food. I lasted all thru the movie, and I had a water bottle to satisfy my thirst instead of sugary pop.

My spring break ended today, so I had to drive back to college today, about a 7 hour road trip. I make numerous stops at gas stations, and its so tempting to just grab a cappaccino or some chips or a doughnut and snack. I always used to do that before, when I would make my treks home. But this time, I went straight to the water bottle section, got my bottles of water, and then went to the deli area where I got some more pepperoni slices (what can i say...they're good!) and some cheese sticks. My mom had also packed 2 hard boiled eggs with me to eat, so I had meat, cheese and eggs to snack on on the way back.

Atkins sounds so easy to do on the website and in the book, but when you apply it to real life, its hard. You just have to think ahead and prepare yourself. Maybe my stories will help give some of you some ideas. I hope so. Its not as hard as you think!

    Good for you.

When I was a newbie, we has a mod here who used to say "Failing to plan is planning to fail." And it's very true.

Maybe if we're really nice we can ask 2Big to repost her "Atkins Emergency Food Kit"
