First of all, you should check the ingredients to see if it contains anything illegal (some form of sugar for example).

Second... with 23 g of protein, this would really mess up your fat-carbs-protein ratio. You should aim for 65% fat, 5% carbs, 30% protein, and unless you are willing to exchange meat with protein powder (why on earth would someone do something like that?!), your protein percentage would be too high.

Whey would be legal on the dairy rung.
I am somewhat addicted to shakes personally

I don't know if they are legal or not ,but I would stay away from them right now till you get your body set to eating healthy they may trigger you to eat more carbs being sweet.I would also think they could constipate you if your not eating a balanced diet.

My DH uses them (when he's too busy to eat properly before we go to martial arts classes), I don't (I don't like the stuff and I'd rather take a cold pre-cooked chicken breast and a baggie of cabbage to eat in the car on the way), we're both losing weight.

I wouldn't depend on them though... as Dimple_Flirt said, you need to learn how to eat properly for you, using real foods. That's part of what Atkins is about.

I was speaking from experience, 12yrs ago I got down to 130 lbs quickly using the weight gainers protein powder but I never learned to eat properly or deal with my issues and look at me now I'm at 282lbs currently.Your better off learning how to eat right with protein/veggies/fat now and use them down the road after you've set your habits as a supplament.
