Someone more knowlegable than me can answer how long it takes, but after the first week of induction, I measured a couple of times just to make sure, and have only measured once since (when I inadvertently ate more carbs than I knew I was eating).
Yes, if it's purple, you're in ketosis. But if it's not purple - doesn't necessarily mean that you aren't in ketosis - the sticks aren't perfect.

I was paranoid at first, too, after having gained weight (and starving miserably) on a traditional "diet" plan. I just *had* to go buy ketostix because I couldn't tell if I was losing weight or in ketosis or what.
I assure you - do the plan as the good Doctor recommends, and it will work.

I've only tested twice since June. I've been told it's like being pg - you either are or not there is no "better/worse, or high/low" ketosis.
Yep, I heard that too. There is a really good you tube channel called 'Livin la vida low carb'. It has LOADS of info and a really good video about ketostix.

Before starting REAL CORRECT induction, they always stayed yellow,,,,,as I thought it is expired, or not working, even though I had very very few sugar that day, but i had it........
the second day after real induction it turned pinkish,,,,,,not yellow at all, but a long way to purple,,,,,
in the third day it was midway between purple and pink,,,,,,,but hasnt changed since then, now day 8
hm
I test it 1-2 times a day,,,just for mental reinforcement.....
