  • Discouraged and Frustrated...help

I am on day 13 of induction - not totally clean, had a few minor slips. I had lost 11pounds and was very pleased with that. I started exercising Monday of this week (day 10) and have gained 5 lbs. Is it normal to go up after you start exercising? I did have several lunchmeat/cheese rolls yesterday and the day before (I was at training and that was all that was available to eat at lunchtime.) Could it just be the salt? I was feeling so good about my progress and now I feel like I need to start over Day 1 induction and make it clean. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do drink 2-3 cups of coffee with a little heavy cream each day btu I increase my water accordingly - usually drink between 96-112 oz each day. A typical breakfast is 2-3 eggs, cooked in a little butter. Lunch typically has been a hamburger (sometimes with cheese, peppers, bacon and sometimes plain) and a small salad. Dinner is salad or green beans and either chicken, pork chop or steak. I did have sugar free jello with reddi-whip one night and reddi-whip another night until I realized the reddi-whip has sugar despite the less than 1 gram carb.

Thanks in advance for helping me!!!

Congrats on your 11 pound weight loss!

It's normal to retain water if you haven't been exercising or if you change your exercise routine. So I wouldn't worry about the 5 pound "gain" at this point.

Yes..totally normal. It happened to me too. It can seems frustrating but keep doing what you are doing and it will fall away.

I can not encourage enough for you to get a measuring tape and measure yourself. Weight loss is not consistant. Your weight is going to drop, plateau, and even go up. The measurements tell a more true tale than the scale does. Take your measurements now, today and then every couple of weeks or so. Maybe the next time the scale offers you less than positive input, grab your tape and measure.

Now, as far as food... try more veggies, cut out the sf jello and reddiwhip and if you would like a sweet treat, try mixing 1/4c (2oz) of cream cheese and Splenda. Zap it in the microwave for just 20 sec. or just enough to soften it and mix it up. It is a cheesecake sort of treat. That helped me through the first month of Atkins.
