  • Induction...no sugar or <20gr, 14 days or more...

    Hi everybody
there are some unanswered questions for me (my sisy borrowed my atkins book and lost it !)

1- Induction phase,,,,,,,,is it no sugar, or <20 gr per day any carb,,,or <20 gr some carbs but absolutely no sugar

2- I need ketchup.......any hints??????? eating dry stake with some lemon juice is pain

3-what about mayonaise,,,,,,,I love it with fish cooked in the stove,,,now all my fish are cooked dry...........just lemon juice

4-No Dairy at all???????? what about that coffee cream mentioned in atkins book......... hmmm

5-Ninth day of induction.......I don't feel hungry at all//////// very strange,,,,,,, I even feel I could live without eating for years ............ do you have the same experience?

    I haven't started yoga or ... yet.......but on the way.........and god ,,,,,I lost 3-4 lbs,,,,,,for the first time in the last year (all the times 92 kg),, I moved to 80's (89.3) (200lbs--> 196)

    Good Luck everybody,,,,,,,,

and DON'T GIVE UP............YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT..........

1-My cousin believes her case (350 lbs) is genetics and she couldnt do anything about it, hmmm, her mom got cancer (sad,,,,,wish her the best, but my point is something else)......so the only way she was eating was through a tube on the stomach,,,just concentrated proteins mostly.............and she lost +150 lbs in two months,,,,,her case was mostly "EATING LESS" ,,,,,,,,,,SO , EATING LESS COULD HELP (haven't you seen the guys whos ship is wrecked and they are on a rescue boat for 20 days until rescued,,,,,,and they are all thin and very low body fat regardless of their previous state)

2-One of my previous neighbors kicked out his 20's son out, he was pretty overweight, and the guy started doing hard physical work (8 hours cutting lumber, going up the trees, carrying logs....) and in 2 months period I saw the guy,,,,,,wow, flat abdomen,,,,,,,,looked very very healthy.........so physical activiy works..........

3-No Need for story,,,,,,,,,,,just ATKIN WORKS,,,,,,,,, and there is no need to get cancer or trapped in the sea, or jump up the tree for paying rent........just eat bacon, steak ,,,,, (SWEET LIFE)

    SO YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES,,,,,,,,,,

    Good luck

    Hi Babak

    Re your questions . . .
    1.
I can't remember if anyone has given you the link to the list of allowed foods for induction yet, but here are links to two good threads giving in brief the rules of induction

and the list of allowed foods for induction

for you to read up on till you get your book back

Also there are several other useful threads in that forum that you might find interesting
Atkins Low Carb Dieting - FAQ's - Atkins Diet

    2.
From the list of allowed foods you can see that we are allowed oils and fats so maybe top your steak with a big pat of butter or sautéé some chopped onions or sweet red peppers in butter to put on top of it.

    3.
Find a mayonnaise with no added sugar (in USA 'Dukes' is one make I have heard about) or make your own from eggs and oil plus any other flavourings like crumbled blue cheese.

    4.
We are allowed cream - so a spoonful of that in coffee or mixed with water to make a milky consistency would be a good substitute till the time you move to the dairy rung of OWL and can add back some fullfat milk.

Despite not having the rules to hand you have made a good start with those 3-4 pounds
I hope once you have read up on the allowed foods and can follow the rules more easily you will have even better results!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Babak - I find that garlic butter is a cure for most ills. It's delicious on steak. And chicken. And most veggies... just about everything!

As for steaks - they are not dry - at least they should not be
Choose nice fatty steaks, don't overcook them.
You can make a mushroom cream sauce to go with them.
When you take the steak out to rest - glaze the pan with some water, when the water has cooked down and you have stirred to get the goodies out add some cream and some cooked mushrooms. Voila!

Ya know, I was a Ketchup Addict. I put it on everything. So I have actually kicked the habit by introducing new things to my pallate.
One of my favorites for meat is mixing Mayo and mustard together. Its easy...its flavorful and it satisfies the need to dip.
Try a nice horseradish mustard also. Koops has one that is sugar free.
I can contest I have no moments after 15 weeks of this Life Change where I crave Ketchup but if you truly need it
I did hear there is a Hienz ketchup out there made with Splenda and Wallmart carries it

Get a cube steak (cheap cut) - cut into strips, stir fry it in garlic butter with some favorite veggies (mushrooms, onions, cabbage - whatever floats your boat)... NOM NOM NOM NOM!

Yes, but it's carby, so be careful with it (or rather, carb-ier by volume than some of the other allowed veggies).
