  • condiments?

Hi there, I am new to the ADBB, and I have a few questions about what condiments I can use during induction - hoping someone will be kind enough to help me out

    Dales Sauce?
    Worcestershire?
    Terriyaki?
Taco seasoning mix in my ground beef?

    Thanks!

    Re: condiments?

Dales Sauce. I guess you are referring to Dale's Steak Seasoning. I looked for the ingredients online and it has
Soy Sauce, Onion, Garlic, Sugar, MSG, ginger, paprika
I don't know what MSG is, but anyway... it has sugar. So no, it's not allowed. You should avoid anything that contains sugar.

    Worcestershire sauce. Online it says
The original recipe is closely guarded, but basically consists of anchovies layered in brine, tamarinds in molasses, garlic in vinegar, chilies, cloves, shallots, and sugar.
Again, sugar. So it's a 'no, no'.

Teriyaki sauce. The recipes here vary, but most of the products on the market have sugar added. Check the ingredients on the bottle.

Taco seasoning mix. Check the ingredients for this. Some seasonings have sugar added to them. It depends on the brand.

As I've said "no, that's not allowed" for so many of the things you mentioned, I feel like I should come with alternatives. If you look on Linda's website,
Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home
there is a section where you can find recipes for sauces, mayo, ketchup... The link,

        Re: condiments?

If sugar is not mentioned among the ingredients, that it doesn't contain sugar. Make sure however it doesn't have ANY form of sugar, not just "sugar" (it goes under different names*) or wheat flour.

        See this link for sugars:

          MSG is monosodium glutamate

it is used as a flovor enhancer (not a flavoring)
it is not the most healthy ingredient. Do some investigation and decide for yourself.
It doesn't seem to affect me, but others seem to have real problems with it.
