I'm sure you could end up with a few different answers to this question, depending on the people that read it.

Everyday weighing isn't helpful really nor is it healthy. Your numbers could stay the same or even go up a smidgen, so you start to freak out even though.. your inches could be going down.

I feel that the best way to do this, is whatever the day was when you started, weigh yourself and take your measurements on that same day once a week. Keep a log and make sure you take some before pictures (or at least as close to before as possible) and then take some during your journey.. it helps alot for YOU to be able to see the difference.

Some people may tell you to weigh monthly, as that could be what they prefer.. but it's really up to you. Just keep it healthy and don't let yourself become consumed with the scale.

    Good luck..

Well I know the best thing would be to weigh in once a week but...... to be honest, I weigh myself every morning AND every night! I only record my weight loss on a weekly basis but do update my ticker with every half pound I lose. If I am up half a pound, I know it is just water weight or whatever as I do not cheat. x

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

I tend to weigh myself daily, in the morning shortly after I wake up. Though I too only record my weight loss once a week, and take measurements. I really don't let it bother me if my numbers go up or stand still. But the curiosity, gets me and I have to check.

Only weigh in once a week. Weight fluctuates too much to be getting weighed more often.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

I think it's really nasty to say it's not "healthy" to weigh yourself every day. I don't "freak out" about my numbers.

That being said. I weigh myself a lot. I love seeing the scale say that I don't weigh what I used to (I have a distorted body image and even after 100lbs, it's sometimes hard for me to see a difference in how I look). I love seeing it go down, and yeah, it can be annoying during a plateau, but it makes me work harder during that day's workout to see it move (the appropriate direction). When I weigh in the evening, if I'm up 4lbs or less, I know that the next morning's weight will probably be less than that morning and it makes me excited, and happy to know that me sticking to the plan is paying off on the scale.

When I don't weigh (yes, I have done this while traveling for a week at a time, or just for a challenge), I feel like it's harder to stay on track with eating and exercise because I don't have that accountability of knowing that I will see it...

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

I weigh myself every day out of habit. But my "real" weigh-in day is Tuesday and that's the number I usually focus on. By weighing myself every day, it helps me keep an eye on my weight and from gaining anything.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

Every morning.... it helps me stay motivated and if the number is the same or I went up a little, then it motivates me to stay cheat free and/or work even harder that day at the gym.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

It all depends on the person. I personally weigh every day (multiple times) and find it to be a motivator. If I've lost, it makes me want to have another good day to see the next pound drop off. If I've gained (even if I know it is a pound of water weight), it motivates me to do better and lose that pound.

On the other hand, some people do not see it as a motivator and become discouraged by slow weight loss or slight fluctuations. If you are that person, I would not suggest weighing daily.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

When I first started out I was weighing once a week... but now I weigh almost every morning after I use the restroom and before I eat or drink anything. It's a bad habit, and kinda discouraging when the numbers stay the same. But then it's vice-versa when I see that I have dropped .5 to 1 lb overnight. I really should try and go back to once a week, but idk if I can. It keeps me motivated if I weigh everyday, though. If I stay the same or even go up .1 oz I will drink even more water the next day.

                      Anyway, I'm rambling.

Hey Everyone! I cant help myself but to put my two cents in I weigh myself every morning out of habit. I get so excited just to see that my sacrifices from the day before have paid off. When I see the numbers drop I'm totally stoked the whole day. And if they haven't that's okay too. But I love my scale and there's nothing wrong with weighing yourself as many times as you feel necessary after all your the only one who knows what works for you.

Re: How often do you weigh yourself?

I found weighing very often to be demoralizing, personally - that being said, I have one official weigh in day - Thursday - and I'll check it every other day or so (same time of day, same basic clothes) just to see what's going on.

I'm sorry if you took my words as being nasty, because I surely wasn't being nasty nor was it my intention to come across that way!

I know lots of people on here weigh themselves daily/or hourly ect.. and I also know from doing no weigh challenges with them, how much of a struggle it can be for many not to step on the scale.. that is all I meant by not being healthy.. as in for the mind and added stress.

I wasn't putting anyone down for doing it. Everyone is different and different things work for different people. I mean when some people have to get family members to lock their scales in trunks, etc so they won't step on it for one week.. yes.. I was shocked to see how hard it was/is for so many.

Anyways.. focus83 I was just trying to be helpful. No matter what you do.. I only wish you the greatest in success.

To any others who may have found my words to be nasty.. sorry

I weigh in every day. Twice a day. Morning and night. I find it helps me stay on track and keeps me honest and if I see the scale going up I can look at my diet and see what I ate instead of waiting a week to realize that a food made me gain. Did I drink enough water? Is it getting close to TOM? I have gone 3-4 days without weighing in and did fine as well. I do not let it get to me and fall off the wagon if the scale does not move.
