  • 4 days into induction!!!!

Squeaky clean induction so far and 5lbs lost! I like the results I'm seeing so far. I weighed myself the morning of my first day and yesterday morning. I am totally committed to doing this right.

My main reason for embarking on this journey to a better WOL and WOE is one that should be very familiar to all. My mother (age47) had a stroke at age 37, a heart attack and stroke combined at age 44, another small heart attack at age 44-3 months after the combo, and a triple bypass surgery July 12, 2004 ate age 46. By the grace of God she is walking around looking as healthy as you and me. The downside is all the medication she has to take daily and the effects they have on her body.

When it comes to my health, these are things that I do not want to have to look forward to. With this in mind, I started cutting calories and watching what I ate (carbs, sodium, etc.) Within 2 1/2 weeks I lost a total of 25lbs!! That is when I knew it could be done. Not just for health, but for life.

With that said, I'm a 1st time Atkin's Dieter, an success for me not only means weight loss, but LIFE!

You're well on your way. Congratulations. With your attitude, you will reach your goals. Moochiecat has a wonderful sticky about weight loss not being linear. Check it out if you haven't already. Here's to your success!

welcome to the board. I wish you much success with your new healthier WOL. It is very sad when we need to see demonstrated by one of our loved ones just what the horrors of ill health can do to us. It is the wise person who sees it and makes changes so they stand a better shot at avoiding those ill health horrors. :hug

You can only succeed with a positive attitude like the one you have.

Many congrats on your decision to make a healthy life for yourself! I too know the fear of scary genetics. My mom passed away last year of a heart attack at age 48, I decided to live this WOL so that wouldn't happen to me too. You are doing the best thing you could possibly do for yourself! Good for you!!
