    I am just starting.
    I have logged tomorrows menu into FitDay.
    I have 12.2 carbs total 6%
    Protein 28%
    Fat 67%
    The calorie count is 802.
    Are teh calories to low?
    Fab,Fit and 40!!

      Breakfast: 2 eggs fried in 1/2tablespoon butter

      Lunch: Salmon burger Cooked in butter 1/ tablespoon) with 1 cup salad (arugula),.1/4 cup onion, .1/4 cup cucumber, 1/2 table oil/vinegar dressing

      Dinner.:1/2 cup shrimp cooked in butter ( 2 tablespoon) and garlic. 1/2 cup red pepper and 1/4 cup cucumber mixed, 1/4 cup onion ( cucumber, red pepper, onion, oil mixed together)

      carbs = 12
      calories= @900
      Fab,Fit and 40!!

        That seems pretty low calorie to me. Maybe add a little cheese to your salad or to the eggs? A little more dressing than half a tablespoon? A mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack?

          I jsut plugged your menu into fitday and it's off.

          You have 869 calories and 19 net carbs - that's not the problem. What is "off" is the breakdown of percentages. You need to be getting 65% from fat 30% from protien and 5% from carbs 65/30/5

          your menu gets 61/29/9

          You need to increase your protien and fat consumtion to balance that out. Eating too little calories will send your body into starvation mode and you will loose initially and then stall out. (or some people just stop loosing)

            Atkins book say to eat liberally from the allowed foods (fats and proteins). You may use Fitday but only to count how many grams of carbs you are eating every day, don't worry about the calories.

            Anyways, < 1000 calories is way too low, add extra shrimp, butter and salmon burgers until you are satisfied.

              Interesting question, as I had the same problem,,,, first becuase I lost my appetite, also the food I eat dont have high calorie starch /carb in it, and thridly I really get confused what to eat more (more than a big steak ,some small piece of cheese, a little veggie, ops, not that much veggie, and that is it, what more? two tablespoon of butter???? omg,,hehe, anyways)

              my calorie intake was always 700-1100 for a week, and I felt ok and lost a few pounds but the last 3 days I increased my calorie intake1400-1700 delibaretly (by eating lots and lots of bacon),and I havent lost any more, also I feel bad!!! I feel nauseated,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,dont know how much should I trust the "minimum claorie theory, calorie count" stuff.........

                If you are just starting induction the three most important rules are to keep the carb to three cups, drink plenty of water and eat liberally from fat and protein.

                What I would do is not to plan a head that much. You have to make sure you are not hungry. And I think in the first few days till ketosis sets in you will need to eat some more than that. Follow the needs - It is important to eat regular meals and to ensure that you are not hungry. Hunger causes instable bloodsugar something we do not want on this diet.

                I have to really say - good for you planning in the vegetables like that. Great work.
