Help! Ketosis Question?

  • Help! Ketosis Question?

    I am on day 9 of the induction phase, Last night my boyfriends mom sent me some soup and said she made it with chicken broth, she told be that 1/4 cup would only be 8 carbs.

    I have been checking my ketosis with the keytostix, and I have been purple for days, this morning I was showing no signs of ketosis. And I know it was from the soup. I plan on staying in the induction phase for awhile since I do have a lot of weight to lose.

    My question is, how long will it take for me to get back into that fat burning state? If I’m good all day today do you think I will go back into ketosis today, or will it take a few more days?

    I’m so upset with myself right now

    I really could use some support.

    Don't beat yourself up! Just move along, you'll be fine.

    I understand it takes a couple-three days.

    Don't worry, you can recover, no problem, and I doubt you'll pile on any weight if you stay on plan during this time.

      2 to 3 days for a 1/4 cup of soup? Oh WOW!!!!

        If you still have the physical signs of ketosis, don't worry about what the stix say. The stix only measure one of 3 types of ketones and the type it measures only comprises about 10-20% of the ketones you produce.

        By the way, what was in the chicken soup that would be 8 carbs for 1/4 cup serving????

          There really wasn’t anything in it as far as I can see, it was thick and brothy and had pepper and some seasoning but other than that it was just a broth type soup. She has been on Adkins for awhile and has done quite well, so I just assumed it was safe since she said she use to eat it all the time on Adkins.

          I know now not to eat anything that I have not prepared myself, and know exactly what goes in it.

            did you say thick?
            hmmm... sounds like some thickening agent used, like corn starch or flour... just a guess...

            But that little bit-o-carb won't slow you down much. I bet you are purple on the stix again today, if not then tomorrow.

              You've been doing this for 9 days so your body should bounce back quickly, especially if you are exercising..
