  • I will succeed this time, I will not give in !!!

Hello again, I am starting induction tomorrow and I will complete it. I have made severval half-hearted attempts to do Atkins but never get past the first day. I posted in the main forum and had some very good replies including the fact that I have to to this for me and only I can make the changes. Also only I can control what I eat so I cant make someone else responsible and use them as an excuse when it goes wrong.

So, tomorrow is a fresh start, and you know what, i'm going to try and treat it like the very first time, and forget all the times I've failed in the past. The thing is when I'm really into something I really get enthusiastic and I get very determined to do it. I need to apply the same determination to this.

I will weigh and measure myself tomorrow and also my husband has just taken my photo to add to my signature which i shall add tomorrow.
Thanks for listening to me ramble.

Welcome. Keep your strength and dedications trong and you CAN do this. You are right. You have to do it for YOU. Sometimes we spend so much time taking care of others that we leave ourselves behind. It's a journey take one day at a time.

How has today gone so far, Jodidi?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I can relate Jodidi as I think a lot of us here can. That mental commitment can be elusive at times. I am on day 3 of induction, again, and feel great and positive. I know, especially with the Christmas Season upon us that I will face some tough decisions. All I can do now is do my very best and enjoy just how good I feel and will feel when the weight starts to come off. This board can be a great place to come to when you need that extra push to keep it going. We can succeed!

We can take this one step at a time and not worry about what we done in the past, but think about the goal we have for ourselves for the future. We can do this!!!

I'm afraid I failed again but i'm not letting it put me off. I know I can do this i've done it before, it was only for a week but its the furthest i've ever got and I know that if I can reach that week marker it will encourage me to keep going.

Can you analyse what it is that makes you give up and eat offplan? Once you can spot a 'trend' you can make plans and strategies to avoid it happening again.

I definately give in to easily. I start the day off with an induction friendly meal then I start thinking about the foods i want to eat, then i start thinking of excuses to get out of the diet. i have a 14mth old and i do find it hard to even have something to eat sometimes, but i no its nothing that a little bit of forward planning cant solve. so i either wait till my hubby gets home and we all have dinner then the snacking on junk starts, or me and the little one might going to tesco and i buy a load of junk then when we get home he has a nap and i eat what ive bought. i'm ashamed to say the other week i had 1 turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sandwich, 1 prawn layered pasta salad and the best part of an apple and blackberry victoria sponge. i was disgusted with myself. i am sick of doing this to myself but i just cant seem to stop but i have too many good reasons to keep doing this to myself. i love food, i feel like if i dont have that cake it will be the end of the world, lol, if you get what i mean. Have you any suggestions Elizellen.
                        Thanks Jodi

I dont know if this is possible, but when I started induction I prepared many 'legal' snacks in advance - much more then I thought I could possibly need, so that any time I felt tempted I had something else ready to grab and snack on.

My snacks were things like celery and pate, celery and cream cheese, slices of meat and gouda cheese for rollups, avocados, small packs of crayfish tails to mix with mayo - all foods that really didn't seem like 'diet foods' at all.

Being 'allowed' to eat those yummy foods (which on previous diets had been forbidden) kept me on the Atkins path till I started seeing results and had got into the lowcarb habit.

Good job keeping up the positive attitude. Just remember that there IS a light at the end of this tunnel! You can do it! It was hard at me in the beginning too, because there was so much temptation. But you've GOT to just stick to it and it will become so much easier over time. I don't even take a second look at sweets or breads! Good luck and keep us posted.

I did to Jodi, but its ok. I figure if I get back on it and don't use any excuses then I will be fine. I have a treadmill and a gym but I just hate to get on it. I'm an outside person but the weather if freezing. So I have a 1-3 mile walking tape that I'm going to try. I know I have to get my exercise in. I NEED MOTIVATION!!!!! Arrrgggghhh
