  • A Little confused

so im deffinately stickin to the carb limit (like 15 max a day)

but i have noticed a bacon that i have been eating had nitrates in it
and the saukraut that i have been eating has 1g of sugar and 1g of carbs

i also went over my cheese allowance for the day

what does this mean for ketiosis?

also between working out/walking to class im somewhere alking anywhere from 5-10 miles a day....will this help me prevent stalling if the above mentioned happens

    thanks

    Re: A Little confused

    Hi there!

I think that as long as you are keeping track of what you are eating as far as how many carbs you are ingesting you will be fine. Also, pay attention to when you are full. If I went over my carb limits because I had one too many helpings of veggies.. i have found that has LESS of an effect on my ketosis than if I had something with sugars in it. Does that make sense?

Everyone also hits platues in their weight loss.. drinking tons of water and sticking to the plan is the BEST cure to plow through it!

Good luck! Glad you are here!!

Did the sauerkraut have added sugar. Sugar listed in the ingredient list. What about the bacon. Those are the sugars to avoid. Some products will have natural sugars and those are fine (as long as the product is on the allowed list)
I think you are probably fine as far as ketosis is going. Are you feeling in ketosis or do you measure with sticks?

Most people will be in ketosis above 20 grams of carbs. 20 grams was a limit set because nearly everyone will see effects at that level. So as long as you account for the things you learned today and stay under 20 for the rest of induction, you'll be fine! I highly recommend fitday.com to track your carbs--it'll keep tabs on all of those things we forget have carbs, like eggs and bacon.

Bacon can be tricky. Most of them have nitrates which may stall some. If your supermarket has a meat counter get the bacon from there. Ask the butcher first, but a lot of the time the bacon is nitrate free.
