  • No physical activity??

In a months time I have to have abdominal surgey, which means that
I will have to rest for a 3 to 4 week period and will not be totally healed for approx 3 months.

Of course I plan to continue this WOL but I am hoping that someone will of had a period of rest after surgery and can advise how the lack of excerise effected their weight loss?

Or has anyone not done any physical activity while on atkins not due to surgery?

    Any input would be welcomed.

    Thank-you

Talk to your doctor about it, but I imagine you'll be able to do some strength training and some light aerobic exercise like walking. But again, talk to your doc.

      Maybe even a little walking.
      Perhaps a few floor exercises.

Just take it easy that you don't stretch the stitch area.

When I had my knees done it saw no lower body workouts and I had to cut my carbs back and my eating so I didn't gain. I continued to do my upper body workouts as was able to maintain.

Exercise increases your metabolic rate and if you cut back your exercise your rate will decrease and you can either cut back your eating or gain weight. the choice is yours. there are upper body workouts you can do you will be aloowed to walk right? So you could do some walking too.

Many thanks for your responses, It is really important to me to have such valuable input. I really could do without having to worry about it now that I've managed to make 8 days of induction!

I really want to continue what I'm doing, but will have to do what ever I can, I don't know wht to expect really other than 3/4 weeks of being sensible, it's a fragile repair after having my baby with a high forceps delivery which bull dozed at speed into various bits.

I'm hoping to be able to walk at the least, even if it is like John Wayne for a while.

Thanks for your help as ever. :hug

I've heard somewhere... not sure where.. that flexing your muscles when you can will also help a little. It's not as good as walking, but it's better then nothing - it keeps the body moving.
