  • Hello fellow inductees!

I'll just jump right in and say...it's so awesome to have a support board that is filled with fantastic people! I've been MIA for a while because of __________ (insert reason here), and mostly for work reasons.

But that being said, I'm setting my clock at Induction for two weeks and working through life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness of freedom from being a slave to the foods that I found myself indulguing in because of stress, life, and ____________ (insert excuse here).

Any ways, just thought I'd proclaim my restart because past training of healing through tough times is to state the facts and feel the release of the power over you. Okay, maybe a bit too much of a statement so early in the morning, but there you go.

Off to start a fantastic morning of Day 2 of induction..whooooppeeee (saracasticly speaking).

      Thanks for the support.

It's a hard road, but we'll get there.

Hi Lisa, I am on day 2. Can you tell me what your morning snacks, evening and lunch snacks include. I find myself not really being hungry in the mornings. A typical example, i ate one piece of sliced ham today for breakfast, for lunch i had a chicken ceasar salad and a diet coke.

I love extra sugar free gum, and i love diet coke, well diet sodas in general. It gives the feeling that i am not missing out on much. What do you think about crystal light, they r low in calories.

          Re: Hello fellow inductees!

          Hi, Yessi...

Snacks....boiled eggs, cheese, deviled eggs w/mayo, celery w/cream cheese celery w/cream cheese wrapped with bacon, cheese, olives, sliced cucumber w/ranch dressing (can you see a "fat" trend here?). I go for the fattiest foods for snacks as much as I can and avoid the salt (mostly...except during a certain wonderful time).

Remember that you need to eat during Induction. You have to eat to lose weight or your body will (trust me on this one) go into starvation mode or the opposite of gorging/pigging out on foods. Use food as fuel

SF gum, in my book is good, but I have TMJ and it's a cheap expense compared to jaw surgery.

Diet Coke, Crystal Light, anything else that says "Sugar Free" or "Diet" is on the questionable list. Stick to what Dr. A says in his book of 2-3tsp of sugar substitute a day and you'll do great!

          Best wishes!

I enjoy snacking on a couple of dill pickle slices. It satisfies my need for something crunchy.

If you make your own chicken curry without flour or sugars or other non-induction additions then it would be 'legal'

I usually serve my curries over 'caulirice' - grate raw cauliflower and microwave till it is as soft as you like it. My husband actually prefers caulirice to 'real' rice now.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Re: Hello fellow inductees!

That is such a good idea with the cauliflower. My family has always used a lot of rice in their recipes so this will help more than you know.

Also, I read somewhere that pickles help curb a sweet tooth. Might have been here somewhere. Who knows ...

                    Re: Hello fellow inductees!

My husband and I were planning on waiting until the 'new year' to start our diet but got so excited about loosing weight we started a few days early. Today is day 3 and I feel great. I've not been really hungry and been satisfied when do eat. I am a little anxious about tonight. We have invited my parents over for finger foods and I find myself making things I would love to eat, but know that I shouldn't.
We did find some sugar free sweet stuff at WalMart today but I'm going to try not to eat it unless I'm having some crazy cravings. But hopefully we can keep each other strong and make it through the night without falling off the wagon. Does any one know how much carbs would be in a small glass of wine?

                      Re: Hello fellow inductees!

Today was induction day #1 for me! For a snack, I had 2 oz. of Muenster cheese (my favorite) and an Adkins shake to help with my sweet tooth. They are a little pricey but worth it, I think. If I'm out an about and need to pick up a quick snack at a convenient store (dangerous territory), I like to busy a small bag of beef jerky. I know it's high in salt, etc., but on rare occassions, it's alright! I also like to make egg salad. Yum.
