  • Carbs from Veggies Not Enough

    Yesterday, my diet was 60% fat, 37% protein and 3% carbs (from Fitday). I am having 3 cups salad per day, because it's simple, but that leaves me at only 10 carbs per day, which I think is not enough.

    Do you think I should include some of the higher carb veggies allowed on induction, even though I enjoy my chicken caesar salad?

    Since I can't have any more than 3 cups of salad, I find myself under the carb limit by the time I've completed the veggie requirement each day.

    I would add some higher carb veggies just to prevent boredom. I know that you could eat caesar salad every day now, but how about in a few days? Try just reducing your salad to 2 1/2 cups and eating 1/2 cup from the 1 cup list. Then add more when you feel like it.

      If you eat only the very low carb vegetables, like lettuce, you won't have the majority of your carbs coming from veggies. Also if you eat only a single vegetable, like lettuce, you won't be getting the nutrients other vegetables provide.

        first you don't have to eat 20 net carbs that is the maximun limit not the target goal. As long as the majority of your carbs come from your veggies you are Atkins correct in your carbs total. Now if you want to eat healthier you really need to try some other veggies and add some color to your choices.

        You are too high protein though as your target there is 30% and your fats target is 65% for induction. You will be lowering your % fats in the later stages as you add more healthy carbs to your plan.

          Thank you! This is majorly helpful. I do need to incorporate a little more fat and I see some higher carb veggies.

          Maybe some avocado in my salads would help with both and just being more open to the veggies. I've never even had kale, have no clue what it looks like. I will figure it out.
