  • 101 things to do with those high-carb foods we don't eat...

Add to the list and let's see how silly and creative we can be!

Place a bagel under each foot of your chair and protect your hardwood floors from denting!

Try tying a string between two bagels. Have a friend stand 100 feet away and see if it doesn't sound just like those tin can phones we used to play with as kids!

    Take a bagel skeet shooting!

Take two bagels and make them into eyeglasses. They're fashionwear and won't change your vision, although hindsight is 20/20, so it accounts for something!

Make a bagel bunion cover for your toe.

Pin two bagels to your head and go as Princess Leia to the next fancy dress party!

Oatmeal: put in a blender and blend to a fine powder. Use in your bath water (hint: a less expensive version of Aveeno colloidal oatmeal bath). Mix with water or honey to form a paste and use as a facial mask.

Sugar: mix with oil and use as a facial, foot or body scrub (don't eat it and rinse it off very well)

Unopened boxes of foods, canned goods: donate to a shelter or food kitchen.

Sliced bread: dry out until stale and use to scrub the scuff marks off your walls (this really works!)

Did you know that when you hold a cinnamon bun to your ear you can hear the ocean?

I didn't know the tip about wall cleaning, not2! *LOL*

How about this? Use jelly as a fly trap. They'll be trapped in the ooey goodness and kick the proverbial bucket.

Jelly, when red, also makes good fake blood.
(Don't try this with orange marmalade, unless you are going for tree sap)

I made the mistake of buying Carb Options Peanut Butter -- then got it home and found it had transfats in it. It's now used to give my dog her medicine -- and give me a giggle or two watching her eat it

The Kraft no sugar, no salt peanut butter also has trans fats in it.
The new Blue Label President's Choice is JUST peanuts - nothing else.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

Potatoes (cut open) apparently take the scuff marks off white shoes.
Then, throw them in the compost.

The best idea is to give unopened items to the food bank. There are many needy souls out there (and they won't turn down the carb-laden foods).

Use leftover flour to make paste for paper mache (pinata anyone?)
Make play dough for your children (or the neighbour's children, or the school class, or the Sunday School class . . .)

Cmcole Giving your carb and sugar foods to the food bank or any charitable donation set up to feed the hungry is the best idea of all.

That said, I want to remind everyone that when dealing with those who knock our Atkins lifestyle carb and sugar based products can be our friends.

                Here are a few examples

                We can.....
                • *Throw Potatoes at them

                  * Throw Rice at them

                  * Place a cake or pie in their chair right before they sit down (this is an acquired skill and takes much hand and eye coordination, practice is key)

*Freeze your cookies (no..not those cookies) and with a sling shot aim carefully at the rear end of your Anti Atkins attacker

*Pack your sugar or flour in clear plastic bags, wrap once with Duct tape and slip in into the luggage of your Anti Atkins attacker before they leave for the airport.

                  White flour: fake snow

Potatoes: make your own homemade Mr. Potato Head characters

                  Rice: throw it at weddings

Pasta: have your kids make pasta pictures, i.e. glue various shapes of pasta on construction paper to make people, trees, houses etc.

                    Rice

Something I really have done (though long before Atkins):

Divide rice into small bowls and add different food colorings to each to make lots of different colored rice. Use the rice to make mosaics with the kids. I did this with my junior girls scout troop back in the mid 80s.

I love the plastic bags of flour and sugar. How devilishly evil.

This is something we regularly got in trouble for in Junior High...
Put some white flour in the end of a tube sock and whack people with it!

Take a clean non-religious sock (not holy..ha ha) fill with rice but leave enough room to tie open end nice and tight. Pop in microwave for about a minute or so (depends on microwave) and you have a nice warm compress. Long socks work great since you can wrap it around your neck. The rice doesn't smell all that great but I imagine you could slip in some sort of aromatic. When I did this when I was in pain, I just didn't care. lol.

I wish I had something silly to post but I'm drawing a blank. I'll probably come up with tons once this thread is dead and buried. go figure.

Okay, I know this is really gross but I´ve come up with a great way of using white flour. If you have greasy hair and are too lazy to wash it but don´t want to go out looking disgusting, you can have some flour in it and it no longer looks greasy.

Yeah, I used to always use soda for cleaning around my desk before atkins. The other day I noticed how dusty it was, tipped some diet sprite over the place and scrubbed and nothing happened. Figured out that it's the sugar that does the cleaning.

                              Uses for white bread:

Take out the center square and use as a picture frame

Toast and use as a frisbee for the dog

Toast and use it to make an art montage (guy who owns a supermarket here actually does that, looks amazing)
