  • Today is the Day!

Hi Everyone, Today is the day I start Atkins. Lets see if I can pass this 14-day induction test. I know it may seem like a bad time to start with Christmas right around the cornor but I'm choosing to put my health first. I'm very serious about losing this weight. I am a morbidly obesed person and I've just been diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes and I have been on a C-PAP for almost a year now. I shouldn't forget that I am also on thyroid medication as well. I know in my heart that this will probably be my last chance to lose this weight on my own. I don't think it will be too much longer at the rate I'm going now that I will be in a wheel chair or requested for the bariatric surgery of some kind. I have quite a bit of trouble walking. Those who are my size or better can relate to my story I'm sure. I'm hoping that my journal will become a great success and that I will be able to help motivate others who are so desparately seeking a more healthier life. I don't need luck; I don't need willpower; I need SUPPORT.

    Re: Today is the Day!

Welcome darlin. I am here (along with so many amazing people) to support you and cheer you on through this great deed that you are doing for yourself.

My name is Mellissa (Liss), and I started Atkins three months ago (this Wednesday). I weighed 324 pounds just before I started Atkins. I now weigh 278 pounds! I'm just about a foot taller than you, but we both started needing to lose over 160 pounds. So I understand what you are facing.

I suggest you take pictures of yourself today. Take three or more. One front facing, side, and rear. Take your measurements!!!!! This is a must must must. And write yourself a letter. I find that when I am being faced with possible moments of weekness I can read my letter to myself and know that I deserve the best I have to offer me...and that is a healthy me.

My final word of advice..post here often. I've never found such a great support system as I have here with these amazing people.

BIG hugs to you my dear. Now lets shrink!
    Hugs ~

              Induction Loss

              Hi Everyone,
I was reading some of the post and read about Tyson. That's amazing Tyson. That kind of news should make anyone continue on. I am on day four of induction and have lost a total of 9lbs. My energy level is really climbing and I'm doing some things I haven't done in awhile. I can feel myself getting stronger and healthier each day and I just started. I can't wait to post my results on the fourteenth day as well. I have asked myself what is the most important thing to me at this point in my life. Should I choose food over health? I have reasoned enough with myself before I made the decision to start Atkins and have decided to choose health. I could have waited until after the Holidays to start Atkins. But, suppose my body couldn't wait until then? There will always be parties to attend and always be food to indulge in. I want to be free from obesity. I want to be healthy and enjoy life.

              Merry Christmas everyone!
Be safe, be careful, and stay focused!!!

                    Induction loss-----17.50lbs

                    Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry I didn't post my loss for my first induction yet. With the holidays and getting back to work my time flew away from me. I am happy to announce that I have lost within the fourteen days 17.50lbs. I had no problems at all within the Holidays and never cheated. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. I feel myself getting stronger everyday. I have a long road to travel but I'm determined to reach my goal. I'd like to advise all newbies to visit this room very often. If for anything, to read others results for your motivation. My total weight loss since Dec 15 is 22lbs. I'm leaving this forum and joining another so I can be with others that I can relate to. Best wishes to all of you.
