why doesnt bubbly water, like seltzer water count towards your total daily water intake goal.

I really don't know the answer to the question but Dr Atkins does state no selzer when your counting your water. It could be that there are salts in selzer water that make it carbonate like soda...

Dr. Atkins definition of "water" is that it's water. Sure water has dissolved particules that are allowed by the World Health Organization and the EPA (if your out of the US, that number is determined by your government) but for the most part it's water. Anything with additives beyond what the government deems is water, isn't considered "water".

        Hi! :wave

Seltzer has trace elements of sodium which can make you retain water and slow your weightloss. Do yourself a huge favor one that you'll be grateful you did for years to come. Just drink at least 64 ounces of good quality, pure clean water a day during induction.

Sparkling mineral water is OK as long as it hasnt any extra flavours.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I drink lemon perrier all the time, I had no idea it could inhibit weight loss, it hasn't for me, but YMMV.

You need to check the label on the bottle to make sure it hasnt got any additives that are not allowed on induction.

I'm confused about this. I would have to say that sparkling water does not count towards your water intake, whether flavoured or not because it's carbonated. I think water means just plain old water. If you want to enjoy it and it's induction friendly, by all means, drink it up! Just drink your 'regular' water as well! Just my humble opinion.

I see what you mean Isabeau but I think sparkling water is OK if it is plain sparkling mineral water.
From Chapter 8 (page 230 in my book)
                    9. You must drink at least 8 230 ml (8 fl ozs) of pure water daily. This can be filtered, mineral or spring water.
Maybe one of the mods can chip in here ?
