  • Pure White Grapefruit Juice

A lady i work with is on atkins and is convinced you can drink pure white grapefruit juice while on the diet. I told her i didnt think so but i would ask all of you. Has anyone ever heard of this, or know why someone would think this?

Atkins has many phases and fruit is allowed in the OWL section and the premaintenance and the maintneance sections. Dr Atkins encourages us to eat the fruits whole and not as juice but if she decided to have hers as juice she can. Once you finish your induction you can move to OWL and when you get to the 7th rung you can have some too if you choose too.

    Happy low carbing.

This is one of those situations where we emphasize again how important it is to be familiar with DANDR, the Acceptable Foods list, and how the Atkins diet works.
It's distressing to hear people say that they can have 'this or that' on Atkins because it seems they're doing what they think is the Atkins diet according to someone else who knew someone who's Mom did a low carb Atkinsy thing once back in the '80's...know what I mean? :yikes

If you ask her what page in DANDR it says you can have this juice, she won't be able to answer you, I'll wager.

You did good, asking about this :yes

Stick to the advice from the experts here and the 2002 DNDR...if it's not on the acceptable foods list then avoid it
