    Re: Carb Count for Salad

Yesterday I torn up the lettuce like I do to eat it and measured it that way. It fits much better in a measuring cup that way. Anyway, it was reassuring to see just how accurate my servings have been, even in my salad veggies. Maybe I've actually learned a thing or two in these oh, how many years?

Wow, thanks for the info, I guess every carb counts, right?

I don't know if this is silly, but I thought it might helps someone-- I do reverse measuring, esp. for things like salad. I have a small glass bowl that I use everytime, and when filled with lettuce to the brim it holds 2 cups. So, I just fill the bowl and I don't need to dirty two things. I do this with things like soup, too. I have a little bowl that holds about 1 1/4 cups. (I filled the bowl with water and then measured the water). This way if I use the same serving piece, I never have to measure because I've already "reverse measured".

It certainly won't work with everything, but a time saver's a time saver.

I also agree, that if there's one thing that you shouldn't get too crazy over measuring exactly, its probably a raw leafy green. I mean, there's a difference between a 2 cup salad and a 5 cup salad, but if you use the same bowl filled to the same fullness each time, its not much of a difference.
