  • Any alcoholic drinks allowed?

I'm not a big drinker but do like an occasional mixed drink or glass of wine when out to dinner. Are there any drinks that would be allowed on induction or first owl?

Not during induction. While your body is processing the alcohol, ketosis STOPS. After you are in OWL, an occasional drink is OK. I have 1-2 Martinis a week, and have not stalled at all. Everyone is different however. Rum and Diet Coke (with Splenda), Vodka Soda, Whiskey & Water....you get the picture. The biggest pushback you will get from this board is; when you are drinking and your judgement is impaired, you may find yourself at an all night Diner ordering a Patty Melt, Onion Rings, and a Milkshake! If that is not you..... Dont worry about it! Good luck and Happy New Year!

Oh man, I love to have a drink or two before I go to bed but it always leads to poor choices for me when it comes to dieting. So when I am serious about losing weight, I stay as far away from it as possible.

According to DANDR, alcohol can be reintroduced on the 5th level/rung of the second phase (Ongoing Weight Loss aka OWL) if you wish.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Sort of off topic, but I am a relative newbie and wanted you to know that your before and after photos are incredibly inspiring! Thanks for posting them.

I am in extended induction. I will probably stay in induction for 6 months. I am allowing myself one no carb alcholic drink per day...an ounce of brandy in the evening. I know that the alcohol calories will burn first, and slow down my weight loss, but the trade off is worth it to me.

I will probably find a healthier way to relax in the evening, as I travel along this new course of living and eating. If I find that my weight loss is too stalled, I guess I will switch to an herbal tea.
