  • Shopping=Problems. Help?

Alright so I'm officially new to this completly. As a fulltime student with a part time job I'm finding it difficult to know exactly what to buy when entering a grocery store. I mean I know lots of meats, the vegetables with less carbs. Is there anything anyone can suggest as a good low carb snack and could give some advice as to what would be some staple ingredients to have in the house?

    Thanks so much!!

    low carb snacks

deviled eggs, either the real thing or just boiled eggs halved with a little mayo and seasoned salt
    celery with cream cheese
    cheese cubes, watch portion
the frozen packages of quick vegetables that have come out.. like the Birdseye or Green Giant microwavables, I love the cauliflower with cheese sauce, broccoli, brussel sprouts.. fast and easy
    cherry tomatoes

On hand besides eggs and meat, you want a variety of salad veggies, but don't overbuy and have things spoil. Tip... radishes are a salad vegetable that tastes great cooked! Try sauteing it in little bacon fat and add in a few onion bits at the end. They don't even take long to cook when you quarter them.

snow peas...the ones with the pod and all
      string cheese....good quick foods
cheddar cheese...I buy a block, it's cheaper and lasts longer, slice up as you need
celery sticks...get 1 head for making sticks and the other to add to your salads
onions and bell peppers...slice and eat with your cheese
Pepperoni...not for daily consumption but for when you're late and in between classes
deviled eggs...eggs are great protein and quick foods and you can do so much with them
cream cheese....again, another food you can mix with veggies or on eggs
mayo...I wipe mayo on top of my boiled egg and go if I'm running behind...good fats!
chicken thighs are very cheap...bake in the oven 350 for about 25-30 minutes (sometimes longer...just until they're not pink and really yummy looking)
Crock pot is a good thing, too...especially for small places, spaces. you can cook all kinds of meats in it with a cup or two of water, veggies, and seasonings...really good when you're at work and school and need to come home to a good cooked meal.

      Hope those help!

When I was on Induction, I kept a photocopy of the Rules of Induction and the Induction Acceptable Foods List in my purse. So when I went shopping or even if I ate at a restaurant, I would always know what I could and couldn't purchase. It saved me alot of grief and alot of money because I could easily pull out the lists and look up a vegetable or beverage.
