  • Had problems while on induction, but want to start again

    Hi all,

A couple months ago I started induction, but had complications as in couldn't go to the toilet for a few days and then when would have to strain forcefully there was even some blood I think it was a broken capillary, but it scared me so much that I stoped and started eating more carbs and fiber and everything went well again. Did anyone experienced something like that?

the thing is after 1,5 week I had already lost 5kg and was so happy about and the main thing it wasn't hard to stick to.

Thinking of starting it again, but this time thinking to add a tbsp of flax seeds 2 times a day, would that be still ok and more water, I think I was drinking only about 1ltr

    Thanks you,

What veggies are you eating? Are you drinking enough water?

I am more regular doing Atkins or any Low Carb plan than I am eating higher carb. I get much, much more fiber doing low carb than I ever did eating low fat, high carb.............

yeah, add some fiber and drink extra water. If you know you have had problems in the past, get a little insurance to cover it. There are plenty of fiber supplement options out there for you to try. Pretty inexpensive too.

Well when the first time i did induction my tipical menu would be:

        Breakfast: friend eggs with cheese
Snack: slice of cheese and cup of green tea
Lunch: cup of allowed viggie and chicken fillet of salmon cooked
Dinner: Salad made with cup of lettuce, tomato tuna and dressing

I would drink about 1lt of water, thats probably wasn't enough and maybe I should reduce cheese intake? I also started taking Ispagnula Husk (Fybogel) every morning but didn't help much

The cheese 'allowance' for induction is a maximum of 3-4 ounces, so probably no need to cut down on that I would think.

As you mentioned, one litre of water is less than the recommended 8 x 8 fluid ounces so you will need to increase that. Plus extra water if you are taking a fibre supplement, as they can cause constipation if you don't have enough water.

As for your 3 cups of veg, better to try and get them all in, and spread them across all meals if possible. Try to choose more nutritious 'salad veg' than just lettuce too to get more net carbs from them. Remember we are supposed to get 'most' of our induction carbs from our veg rather than our cheese and eggs so limiting yourself to lettuce means you can have less 'other carb foods'!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
