  • Question about "Digestible" carbs (avocado specifically)...

Ok - so I haven't really had a chance to read the ENTIRE book yet (I'm only on chapter 7).

My question is - in the back, the carb counter - An avocado 14.9 "total carbs" but only 4.8 "Digestible carbs" for 1 whole avocado.

I am making an avacado/tuna salad today for lunch and I'm using 1/2 of an avocado - so do I only count 2.4 carbs? or do I count 7.5 carbs?...

    thanks!!!

also - what IS the difference?

"Digestible carbs" is the same thing as Net carbs---both terms are used in the book.

We only count "net carbs" on Atkins. So if you are using 1/2 avocado, then you count 2.4 net carbs.

sweeeeeeeeeet! I really need to seriously get through the entire book!

My other question is - for example - when I see nutritional facts for something such as Dreamfields pasta - the site (Dreamfields Pasta, Premium pasta made healthy) says,

      Carbohydrate Facts
      Total Carbs: 41 g carbs
      Fiber: 5 g carbs
      Protected Carbs: 31 g carbs
      41 g
      -5 g
      -31 g
      Digestible Carbs*: 5 g

Count 5 grams of carbohydrates per each
56 g serving when controlling carbohydrate
intake and blood sugar levels to promote good
health and weight control. Dreamfields offers
significant health benefits, and has been
      clinically tested to establish digestible
      carbohydrate levels.

What does "protected carbs" mean? Is that pasta seriously only 5 grams of carbs that we'd have to count?
