  • I think I'm about to cry!

So here's my deal... I guess I'm a STAC person because I'm really trying to get back on plan after about four years. I guess I wasn't doing atkins right because was at 20 carbs for almost a good year, but I did what to lose a lot of weight.

Anyway, at 21 I'm trying to start again, and I guess I find doing Atkins harder than ever! All these rules about watching out for sugared meats and condiments hard to follow. I try to go shopping for my stuff on Sunday and found almost nothing I could put on my meats, all the mayo, bacon, sauage etc. has sugar in it!!! And I can't have the shakes too? I do recall that while I didn't drink the shakes till a little later on, I did eat packaged meats with condiments and all and had no problems with stalls till I was at 160. I was at 155 before I started to mess up after a trip to Europe.

I guess I'm having a hard time after learning more about the diet, it's really hard eating like this again after so many years, yesterday I tried induction again, and was bored with it at the end of the day. I was trying to buy mayo and salad dressing, but everything had sugar in it, even most of the meats, so what in the world can I eat!! I tried to make my own dressing but I find the oil and vingar tasted so gross. It's just so hard! I'm gonna start up again tomorrow and post my menu for you guys, I could really use llots of support trying again and thank you guys for helping me out in advance. I would go to the STAC forum but, I am new to all the detailed rules, and want to make sure I wouldn't be stalled. And excuse me for the rambling post.

    Morning hun

Sorry you are finding it tough this time round. The best thing is to try and eat as much unprocessed food as possible and then you will avoid the hidden sugars without thinking about it. You can make your own salad dressings with olive oil and cider vinegar (delicious) and you can easily make mayo too (although I have to say I have always used Hellmans with no problems).

Keep up the good work - it will all be worth it xxx

This way of eating should be easy, not difficult.
First, stick to the walls of the market as much as possible. That's where the real food is. The aisles are full of evil.
Second, don't stress about the tiny amounds of sugar. just do your best to avoid them. Real food is lower in carb than fake food. Meat has some carb in it, the cow had blood sugar too, so it will be there. Just don't get it honey glazed.

I eat stuff with carbs in it. I use Ken's salad dressing, about 1-2g per serving. I eat lunchmeats, with 1-2g per serving, I eat hotdogs with 1-2g per serving, I eat bacon like crazy, I just get the no added sugar kind (kroger has a house brand, walmart does too, and oscar meyer makes some). I use kraft real mayo, etc.

So, just do your best, you will get great results.

I buy the already roasted chickens and remove the skin because that's where the seasonings are, and I don't like the skin anyway. I do the same when I make Shake'nBake at home. Pork chops are great, as are beef and pork roasts. And one of my favorites is Corned Beef Brisket. These are just a few of the great, flavorful and filling foods allowed on this diet.

And for salad dressisng, I make my own using Good Seasons mixes. My favorite is the Garlic and Herb, and it only has 1 carb per serving versus 3 in other dressings!

Good luck to you and keep us posted on your progress.
