  • carbs in chicken and eggs

Ok - so according to the carb counter in the back of the book, eggs DO have carbs?...0.6 g per egg right? I assume we need to count that...

granted, that's not a lot - but when you're eating 4 eggs at breakfast, then 2 at lunch - that adds up.

so we DO count the carbs in eggs, right?

also - chicken. I have a bag of tyson boneless chicken breast strips and for one serving, there's 2 grams of carbs in it. Is this because it's processed? The NI says 2 grams of sugar IN CHICKEN?????

I like this chicken because it's pre-cooked and easy to grab and go for lunch to just re-heat. I HATE having to make stuff in advance but I don't like the fact that this bag says there's sugar in CHICKEN!

Seriously - does the food industry have to put sugar in EVERYTHING? I mean it's chicken!!!!

Since, apparantly there IS sugar in this chicken - what is the easiest way to cook and store chicken so I don't have to worry about the carbs/sugar?

Yes, eggs have a smidgen of carbs. I just count it as 1 carb to make it easier because I write mine in a book instead of using fitday.

As for chicken, some places do add sugar to the precooked types. What I do is buy the big, economy packs (raw) at Walmart and then freeze them in individual bags. That way I can either thaw them in the microwave and cook them ( love curry!) or just throw them in the crockpot in the morning and let them cook all day with either a seasoning packet or my own spices. Be careful of sugar in the seasoning packet though because some have alot in them. I'm on premaintenance so I have a little more leeway than those on induction. I hope this helps.

Many "bagged" chicken products are injected with a salt-sugar solution in order to keep the chicken moist when cooked. In fact, I've noticed the solution is being used in some chickens that you buy raw in the fresh meat case too (read the labels!)
