  • Fallen on the 4th day hurdle!

    Hi all,

Just to let you know i am on my fourth day of Induction! Finding it difficult but it is absolutly what i want so need to keep focussed!!

Unfortunatly today i was down the shop getting a salad bowl made up with chicken and the usual cold salad. And got peckish there and then so got a piece of white pudding from the hot counter!! I dont know why because looking back i could have grabbed a rasher(bacon) or sausage! But i went for the white pudding!!

When i got back to the office i googled the ingreidients of pudding and saw that there is usually milk/oatmeal/breadcrumbs mixed with it!!

So now im disheartned!! I had my chicken salad with mayo and now im having my Decaf tea with splenda and cream!!

    Feeling really disheartened!

    Hi Sarah,
The best thing to do is to make sure that the very next meal or snack that goes into your mouth is Atkins Friendly!
Reflect why it was that you reached for the pudding. Was it a craving (sweetness)? If you're craving sweets it's a good thing not to feed the sweetness but to starve it. L-glutamine is a great supplement to help with sweet cravings. Dr. Atkins explains about it on page 136 DANDR. I can also give you more info on it if you'ld like.
Understand why it was that you reached for the pudding. Learn from your mistake and move on.
Do you have your DANDR 2002 handy? Knowlege is power and will help guide you in helping you make healthy descisions in your Atkins journey.
Drink plenty of water to flush your system. Nothing replaces water.
Keep going Sarah! Finish out your 2 weeks Induction.
    YOU CAN DO THIS!
    Sincerely, Sherri

      Thanks Sherri!!

Yeah i have it handy and i think i just forgot why i cant have the puddin! I think because i saw it with the bacon and sausages i just assumed i could have it!! But im annoyed that i have broken it, i mean i have stuck it out and now im worried that that small piece of pudding will effect my weightloss!!

That is the size of what ive had the circle there! So my lunch was Atkins friendly and i have cut out caffiene since the start of atkins so hopefully i will have lost something this week.

To be honest i feel full and tired and lethargic this week. A part of me thinks this isnt working and that my tiredness is due to me being off work over christmas and another part thinks the tiredness has got to be down to me cutting out all my carbs and sugar and caffiene!

LOL, sorry I had to giggle at myself. White pudding here in the states is different from where you're at. When I hear pudding I think of the creamy thick sweet desert. I think you'll be alright without much damage.
Oh it's working! You are right about feeling the way your are for cutting out the simple carbs, sugar. You're in the 4th day and feeling the effects of detox. Headaches, lethargic, tired. All part of the Induction flu, as they call it here. You're detoxing! It hits about the 3 or 4th day of Induction. Once it passes you will have a burst of energy.
You'll be feeling much better here in a couple of days. Hang in there!
I'm so glad to hear that you have the book handy.

Sherri that book stays in my handbag!! I have a big bag which my life is in and it now contains the latest addition to my like which is the DANDR!

Yeah i thought that you would think that by pudding i meant desert!! i wish i broke it with desert but i know better!! Yeah its a meat so hopefully i wont have broken it to badly!! It would be a different story had i broke it with say a bar of chocolate!!

You look great now Sherri!! Your a real motivation to stick with it! Did you ever come off it and go back to normal food plan? Its so diffiult because i didnt actually realise how much food i was eating! Bread, pasta, rice, cereals - its just mental!! So hopefully after week two i will be feeling a bit better!!

            Thanks Sarah on the compliment.
Yes, I have come off of it.......big mistake! My metabolism can not take simple carbs, I am glucose intolerant and will never be able to eat simple carbs without the weight gain that goes along with it.
One has to remember that Atkins is a lifestyle and not a diet. You're making lifestyle changes for a healthier life. It takes time to make the transition. This is a very healing and learning WOL(way of life) I'm still learning and healing.
Don't give up, learn from your mistakes and always move forward in your journey. Most important, work the plan 100% and you'll get 100% results. If you slip off the path.....just get back on and move forward. You'll reach your goals! I've had my share of mistakes but I always get back on plan and push forward. That is my success by not giving up.

                Keep up the good work!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

so what u messed up. that doesn't mean throw in the towel. think about it, if you give up and eat a bowl of pasta or half a cake, that is gonna go and become glycogen, and it'll be that much longer that you have to be in Induction. it could have been so much worse, right? one little blip is not going to ruin the entire WOE. it's a learning experience!
