Hi. I started Adkins on Sunday and weighed myself for the first time this morning (Thursday) and gained about .6 pound. I understand the need to follow very closely and am very confident that I have. I know I have not exceeded 20 net carbs a day. I have felt pretty good. Did have some headaches and cravinigs on day 3, but other than that, its been good. I drink my water. The only thing I do that is possibly off plan is drink 2-3 cups of oolong tea (unsweetened- no calories) so I can not imagine that is it. I am really surprised. We all know when we have maybe pushed it too much and deep inside you have not been 100% perfect, but this time I really think I have been right on. ITs very frutrating to see a gain. BTW, I have been in ketosis since day three (when I bought the strips). Anyone have some advice to keep me going.

Re: Day five...no loss.
Relax! You may not lose pounds daily or even weekly. As long as you are doing the Diet correctly, you shouldn't worry too much, especially this early on.
Did you measure yourself as Dr. Atkins advised in the book? According to him, the loss of inches is a more accurate indicator of the loss of fat from our bodies.

Re: Day five...no loss.
I wish I had more experience with Atkins - but I wanted to say i'm in the same boat as you are. I started on Saturday and so far - I'm actually loving this new way of eating - but mainly, for me - it's because I haven't gotten "sick" since saturday - no joking, carbs make me sick.
.
But I too haven't lost anything yet either - however - I absolutely REFUSE to let that deter me. I've been listening to a TON of low-carb podcasts I found on itunes (there's a few different ones) as well as trying to read the book when I get a chance - and for me, I keep reminding myself - this isn't just for weightloss, it really IS for health.
I'm VERY excited that I'm flushing out all of the sugar and white flour and other carbs out of my body. Plus, I know - for me - it'll take more exercise (which I'm slowly getting back into after a 5 month hiatus). But I keep reminding myself that this really IS the healthy way to go.
Natural meats - natural fat - and tons of vegees. That is a MUCH better diet than a low-fat (when you're constantly hungry), high carb/sugar (when I constantly feel like crap becuase of the insulin spikes...) diet.
Yes - it's extremely frustrating that I'm not losing as fast as so many others I've seen here and on other blogs have - but I know it WILL happen. After all - Rome wasn't built in a day, right?
You just have to keep pushing and remember that you're changing your lifestyle to be healthier, NOT just to lose weight and then go back to eating junk food. right?
I wish you luck and just stick with it. There's too many success stories out there (especially on this board) to think that this plan doesn't work. It may take a while longer than some - but it WILL happen.

Re: Day five...no loss.
I'm just curious to know if you watched the scale this closely while you were gaining the weight?
You're on day 5 of a 14 day process after spending who knows how long putting the weight on and/or carrying it around. It's been said before and I'll stress it again- it didn't come on over night, it's not going to come off that way.
I know it's stressful, but ya gotta stay rational about this. It's tough to do with such an emotional issue, but being reactionary is going to make this harder on you. You're in this for the long haul, right?
Hang in there!
